Position Summary
Ballinger is seeking a Senior Project Architect who will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design and implementation of architectural projects for various types of buildings within higher education, healthcare, laboratory, or corporate spaces. Responsibilities also include coordination of the work team and consultation with clients and stakeholders.
Your focus as a Senior Project Architect will involve leading projects of varying sizes in a collaborative atmosphere partnering with Senior Project Designers and Principals. In addition to significant client involvement, we expect you will have regular professional interaction with our healthcare, corporate, science, and academic teams, and provide employee mentoring to less experienced staff. You will be included in responsibilities and tasks that support an understanding of studio leadership at Ballinger. Responsibilities:
Lead team 3D renderings
Generate redlines in a documentation set
Accountability for budget adherence
Act as a team-wide mentor and actively share knowledge
Advise on firm standards (RUG / Technical / Templates / Specs)
Engage in internal project leadership (lead a component or discipline within a project team)
Engage in external project leadership (lead project with client and contractor)
Present and provide day to day support to client and external project team
Perform ongoing studies for process improvement
Build on industry network, potentially through trade organizations, local events, speaking, or conferences where applicable
Assignments may include working with a team through programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, and construction administration activities, with the expectation of gradual independence and demonstrated leadership in these areas.
Conduct design-related research
Work with external consultants, product reps, and fabricators
Interface and coordinate with other disciplines
Mentor team members with less experience
Develop knowledge of Ballinger’s project types (health care, academic/lab/research, corporate/workspace) through the job experience, repetition, and scalability of tasks and responsibilities
Participate in construction administration related activities as applicable to the level of responsibility by project
Travel as project requirements dictate for surveys and field/site visits during construction
Technical Skills:
Ability to provide direction within a large team
Develop design or technical solutions with the Project Manager and Principal
Lead large scale or multiple projects, develop work plans and project execution strategies with the Project Manager
Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and give direction to other team members
Interfaces and leads all disciplines during the design/coordination phases
High level of responsiveness and collaboration with contractors and clients
Demonstration of targeted expertise with a key role in the firm
Demonstration of superior technical skills, dedication and ownership of work
Proficiency in one of the following: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape or other modeling software applications
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
Attention to detail
Strong knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications

Exercise independent judgement
Requirements:
BS or BA degree in Architecture or equivalent (or knowledge gained over years of work experience)
15+ years of design experience preferred
Superb production, analytical, and communication skills and be able to perform well in a design environment.
Bachelor or Master of Architecture
Registered Architect (RA)
Highly versed with preparing full sets of design documents using Revit, Bluebeam

Location:
This role is based in our Philadelphia, PA headquarters with (3) days per week on-site and a flexible, hybrid work schedule.
