The success of any machine learning system relies on the quality of its training data, but building high quality datasets is too slow and too expensive. Encord is building the infrastructure to solve this problem. Our platform handles the indexing, curation and annotation of huge datasets, so that our customers can efficiently build datasets, train models, and deploy their AI systems.

We are an ambitious team of 100+ working at the frontier of multimodal AI and are backed by $30M in Series B funding from top investors like CRV and Y Combinator. We have big plans ahead and are looking to rapidly expand our Product team over the course of this year.

About You

Experience: 6+ years designing product experiences in B2B SaaS, preferably at startups. You have deep experience with at least one of: dev tools, highly interactive editors, technical workflow software, or data/ML platforms. Expert proficiency in Figma and AI prototyping tools.

Systems thinker: You design simple, flexible and scalable systems that adapt to diverse use cases. You think in holistic journeys built by components, patterns, and states - not just individual screens.

Taste + craft: You have strong opinions and intuition about what makes experiences feel right - you notice when transitions are sluggish, when hierarchy breaks down, when a micro-interaction elevates or ruins a flow. You sweat the details others miss. You have sharp judgment about where quality defines the experience and where iteration beats perfection. You can articulate your design decisions and trade-offs clearly.

Bias to action: You have the agency and urgency to move work forward. You leverage AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor to prototype and ship production-ready interfaces yourself rather than waiting for engineering bandwidth. You're comfortable pushing changes to prod and unblocking yourself to get work in front of users.

Problem ownership: You're deeply customer-centric, you dig into the real problem, explore multiple approaches, and advocate for the right solution even when it's uncomfortable. You own the full journey from user research to shipped feature, including edge cases and error states.

Collaborative excellence: You work closely with product and engineering to create comprehensive designs that inspire the team to build. You gather cross-functional feedback effectively while maintaining your design conviction. You're comfortable presenting work in progress and defending your decisions with clear rationale.

Design leadership: You mentor other designers, contribute to and evolve the design system, and raise the bar for design quality across the product. You think about consistency, not just for your own work but for the entire platform experience.

Who We're Looking For

We need a Senior Product Designer who can tackle one of the hardest problems in AI tooling: making powerful, flexible systems feel simple and intuitive.

You'll be designing::
• Configuration interfaces that balance flexibility for technical users with accessibility for non-technical annotation managers
• Multimodal workflows where any data type like video, audio, documents, and sensor data - works together seamlessly
• Scale-aware patterns - designs that work across not just hundreds of tasks but millions.
• Complex data visualization for AI model evaluation, data quality, and workflow analytics

• You're comfortable using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0) to prototype and ship production code - we value designers who can unblock themselves and ship fast

• You want to shape AI infrastructure used by leading teams building the future.
