Job Summary
As a Senior Product Designer, you will lead the design of complex user experiences across OpenEye’s products, applying user-centered design principles to solve challenging problems and deliver measurable improvements in usability. You will conduct user research, create high-fidelity designs, and partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to ensure solutions meet real customer needs while advancing our product vision.
Your work will span from discovery and validation through detailed design and delivery, ensuring every experience is intuitive, accessible, and polished. You will contribute to OpenEye's design system, mentor junior designers, and advocate for design quality and user needs throughout the product development process.
This role requires an experienced designer who combines strong craft skills with user research capabilities, who can work independently on significant features while collaborating effectively across disciplines, and who consistently delivers work that raises the bar for design excellence.
Role and Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end design for significant product features and improvements, from discovery through delivery
• Conduct user research including discovery interviews, usability testing, and customer engagement to validate assumptions and uncover user needs
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that meet engineering readiness standards
• Contribute to and help evolve OpenEye's design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across product experiences
• Partner with Product Management and Engineering to define requirements, prioritize work, and ensure designs balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints
• Advocate for usability, accessibility, and design quality throughout the product development process
• Present and defend design decisions to stakeholders, clearly articulating the rationale and user benefits
• Mentor junior Product Designers, providing guidance on research methods, design approaches, and craft excellence
• Conduct design reviews to ensure adherence to design standards and usability principles
• Stay current on UX trends, interaction patterns, and emerging technologies to bring fresh thinking to product challenges

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field
• 5-7+ years of professional experience in UX/product design
• Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design process, research methods, and high-quality UI design for complex software applications
• Demonstrated experience conducting user research, including study design, usability testing, and synthesis of findings into design recommendations
• Proven ability to lead design projects independently from concept through delivery
• Deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, interaction design patterns, and accessibility standards
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with ability to articulate design rationale to cross-functional partners
• Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments
• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems for enterprise software or SaaS products
• Experience designing AI-driven features, conversational interfaces, or intelligent systems
• Experience working in IP video, physical security, business intelligence, IoT, or related technical domains
• Track record of influencing product decisions through research insights and design advocacy
• Experience mentoring or coaching junior designers
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices and development workflows
• Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices

The base salary range of this opportunity is listed below and is determined within a range based on factors including qualifications, location and experience. This allows opportunity for growth and development within the role. The base salary offered is part of a total compensation package.
