Job Description
As a member of the Research Team, Private Equity Research Analysts conduct due diligence and oversight on Private Equity investment managers and funds. They sit in on our Investment and Portfolio Review Committees and are actively involved in restructuring private equity portfolios including secondary sales.
Responsibilities:
Identify new and established Private Equity investment managers with superior skills and competitive advantages.
Work on restructuring existing portfolios including secondary sales.
Conduct due diligence including data analysis, manager conference calls, on-site visits, background, regulatory and reference checks, and documentation.
Evaluate the drivers of risk, return, strategy robustness and quartile ranking.
Willingness to take initiative, exercise independent judgment and to act decisively while working collaboratively with other Analysts and Consultants.
Exhibit self-sufficiency, organizational abilities, good team communications and work ethic.
Make clear presentations and recommendations to internal committees and to non-technical clients.
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance or Business
CFA and CAIA required
Superb writing ability. Writing memos documenting our investment decisions is a key part of this role.
Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytic skills assessing private market strategies and opportunities.
Manage ongoing relationships with existing and potential investment managers.
Attend client meetings with our Consultants as needed.
Five years (or more) of relevant experience, especially in Private Equity manager research.
Advanced Excel skills and financial information systems e.g., Preqin, HFR.
Experience in portfolio analytics/attribution with Barclays Point, Factset or Bloomberg.
Travel approximately 20% of the time.
