A Day in the Life

As a Senior Principal Enterprise Software Engineer of the MEIC, Responsible for the full-stack development of cloud services that integrate with medical products.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• You will be responsible for the full-stack development of cloud services that integrate with medical products.
• Design, conduct code reviews, implement, debug, web APIs, and other AWS cloud services utilizing Python Fast API, Postgres RDS, MVC, Redux, ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML, Cloud Front, Lambda and SQS.
• Determine design requirements for software systems.
•  Evaluate and recommend AWS services, tools, and frameworks based on project requirements.
•  Generate documentation for software projects to support regulatory and business needs.
•  Participate in all stages of product development: including refining product vision, gathering needs, refining requirements, project planning, system design, coding, testing, release, deployment, and support.
•  Utilize experience and education to build high quality, maintainable software following industry design/architectural patterns.
•  Use Agile methodologies to manage application development.
•  Manage completion of own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Continues to strengthen industry knowledge and use that knowledge to improve the quality of our products.
•  Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
•  Lead or participate in architecture review sessions, to ensure compliance with microservices design principles, system scalability, and best practices for cloud-native environments.
•  Collaborate with product and engineering teams to refine system architectures, focusing on modularity, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
•  Lead efforts to enhance software quality through rigorous code reviews, testing strategies, and compliance with security standards, maintaining the highest level of software quality.
•  Present updates on progress, architecture decisions, and strategic roadmaps to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.
•  Drive continuous improvement initiatives, assessing software maturity levels and implementing best practices to elevate product quality.
•  Lead the design and development of enterprise-scale microservices architectures to support highly scalable and distributed systems.
•  Additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field with 18+ years of engineering experience.
• Minimum 6 years of web application software development (full stack) experience in Python.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise-scale microservices and distributed systems architectures.
• Experience with database development (Postgres SQL).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and AWS cloud platform.
• Deep knowledge of API management, event-driven architecture, and real-time data processing for scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency in React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Knowledge in DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience driving software process improvement initiatives, leveraging data to enhance software development efficiency and product quality.
•  Demonstrated ability to lead technical reviews, conduct code analysis, and ensure alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
• Experience in medical device industry (or other regulated industry)
• Experience with networking communication protocols
• Experience with Security and Risk analysis
