POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Pipeline Engineer’s primary responsibility is leading and delivering mainline pipeline project work across Canada, providing senior technical oversight, engineer‑of‑record (EOR) accountability, and sound engineering judgment throughout project execution. This role is suited to a highly experienced engineer with a strong technical reputation and a proven track record on major pipeline developments.
In addition to project delivery, the position provides secondary support to business development and client engagement activities, contributing technical expertise to proposals, pursuits, and client discussions as required. Through this involvement, the role helps strengthen Lauren’s technical credibility while ensuring continuity between project execution and client expectations.
The successful candidate will bring 20+ years of Canadian pipeline engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in large‑diameter (“big inch”), long‑distance mainline pipelines transporting gas and/or liquid products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Authority & Collaboration
Serve as a senior technical resource within the pipeline group, supporting consistent application of engineering standards, practices, and accepted industry methodologies.
Collaborate closely with pipeline engineers, designers, project managers, and multi‑disciplinary teams to support effective project delivery.
Provide informal mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and designers, supporting professional development and technical excellence.
Contribute to continuous improvement of pipeline engineering practices, lessons learned, and technical approaches across projects.
Project Execution Support & Technical Oversight
Provide senior‑level technical oversight for pipeline engineering activities on engineering and EPCM projects.
Review and approve key engineering pipeline deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
Collaborate with others, including geotechnical and hydrotechnical engineers, the environment, and surveyors.
Support resolution of complex technical and constructability issues through sound engineering judgment and experience‑based decision‑making.
Provide technical input during project scope development, design reviews, interface discussions, and change management processes.
Support smooth transition of projects from proposal to execution by confirming alignment between proposed and executed scope, assumptions, and deliverables.
Conduct or support periodic field reviews, constructability assessments, and respond to technical queries as required.
Technical Support for Proposals & Client Engagements (As Required)
Provide senior technical input to project pursuits and proposals, ensuring alignment between proposed approaches and practical, executable project delivery.
Review and validate technical scopes of work, RFP requirements, and client expectations to confirm feasibility, compliance, and consistency with Lauren’s execution capabilities.
Support development of technical proposal content (as required), including execution strategies, engineering scope definitions, assumptions, exclusions, and high‑level risk identification tied to project delivery realities.
Contribute project-informed input to estimating and resourcing discussions, validating technical effort, sequencing, constructability, and execution risk based on prior project experience.
Participate selectively in client meetings, technical discussions, and presentations as a senior technical representative, reinforcing confidence in Lauren’s project delivery approach and engineering judgment.
Act as a trusted technical advisor to project and proposal teams, ensuring continuity between pre‑award commitments and post‑award execution expectations.
