Challenge

We’re looking for a Senior PHP/Symfony Engineer (5–7+ years) to help strengthen the foundation of a growing PHP team.This role requires deep expertise in Symfony 5/6, strong system design capabilities, and experience working in API-driven, integration-heavy environments.

You’ll maintain and evolve existing production systems while contributing to architectural decisions that impact scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities:
- Strong expertise in Symfony 5/6, including bundles, services, dependency injection, and configuration best practices.
- Solid background in system design and architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Extensive experience with integrations (third-party APIs, internal services, data feeds, event-driven workflows).
- Proficient in database design and performance optimization (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Security-focused, with experience in authentication, authorization, and handling sensitive PII.
- Experienced in maintaining and evolving existing Symfony systems while delivering new features.
- Comfortable owning end-to-end technical decisions, from architecture to implementation.
- Familiar with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Mandatory Skills:
- 5–7+ years of professional experience with PHP.
- Strong expertise in Symfony 5/6.
- Solid background in system design and architecture decisions.
- Extensive experience with API integrations and service-to-service communication.
- Experience designing and optimizing MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection, PII handling).
- Experience maintaining and evolving existing production codebases.
- Proven ability to debug and resolve complex distributed system issues.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-hosted environments.
- Strong English communication skills and comfort working with US-based teams.
- Ability to take ownership and make pragmatic technical decisions.

Nice to Have:
- Advanced cloud platform experience (AWS or similar).
- Exposure to high-scale distributed systems.
- Experience in compliance-heavy environments.
- Leadership or mentoring experience.
- Advanced DevOps practices and infrastructure familiarity.
