Senior PHP Developer (Based in Mexico)

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP Web Developer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated web applications, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and high-performing.

As a key player in the development process, you will take on a leadership role, guiding junior developers, optimizing performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your expertise in PHP, AWS, and modern development practices will be crucial in shaping the future of our applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex web application architectures using PHP frameworks, ensuring scalability and performance optimization.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented PHP code that adheres to industry best practices and coding standards.
• Lead development teams on large, complex projects, delegating tasks, reviewing code, and providing technical guidance to ensure successful project completion.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and QA engineers, to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
• Design, maintain, and optimize database schemas, queries, and data integrity to ensure the smooth operation of web applications.
• Analyze and identify performance bottlenecks, implement optimization strategies, and monitor system health to ensure high-performance levels.
• Implement robust security measures to safeguard applications against vulnerabilities and maintain data privacy standards.
• Perform thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality and reliability of applications.
• Mentor and coach junior developers, sharing knowledge, best practices, and guiding their growth within the team.
• Stay up to date with emerging PHP technologies, frameworks, and industry trends. Recommend and implement new tools and solutions as appropriate.

Requirements:
• 8-10 years of experience as an individual contributor in web development, with deep expertise in PHP development.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable web application architectures.
• Proficient with AWS, including Step Functions and Lambda Expressions.
• Strong knowledge of database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.), including schema design, query optimization, and maintaining data integrity.
• Experience with Jira for project management and collaboration.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and using AI assistants in development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with a knack for debugging complex issues.
• Comfortable leading and collaborating with teams, with a strong focus on mentoring junior developers.
• Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is nice-to-have
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
