Job Overview:

Prometheus Group RiskPoynt EHS application is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to join our team. RiskPoynt is an International Oil and Gas industry application designed and built to reduce the likelihood of a major accident occurring. The system aligns with industry norms like API, IOGP 544 and other safety directives such as COMAH. We are looking for an individual that will take an interest in the products function as an application as well as the technical aspects. RiskPoynt contains process safety disciplines and is designed to communicate cumulative risk using a concept known as barrier management.

We are seeking an experienced Oracle 19c PL/SQL Developer to design, build, optimize, and maintain a database solution that power a critical business application in the areas of Environmental health and safety specific to process safety and barrier management. The ideal candidate has strong proficiency of PL/SQL, SQL performance tuning, data modeling, and Oracle 19c features, and collaborates closely with product, engineering, and operations to deliver reliable, secure, and performant data services.

Responsibilities:

Design & Development

Design robust stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and views using Oracle PL/SQL.

Build ETL/ELT pipelines (native PL/SQL, external tools, or DBMS_* packages) to ingest, transform, and publish data.

Implement error handling, exception management, logging, and instrumentation for traceability.

Develop and maintain database schemas, constraints, indexes, and materialized views.

Create reusable APIs (e.g., PL/SQL APIs, REST) to expose data services.

Performance & Optimization

Analyze query plans and tune SQL (e.g., EXPLAIN PLAN, SQL Monitor, dbms_xplan).

Optimize data access patterns (indexes, partitioning, hints, statistics) and reduce I/O.

Work with architects to align physical design (partitioning, tablespaces) with data growth and access patterns.

Collaboration & Documentation

Partner with application developers to design efficient SQL/PLSQL interfaces.

Work with business analysts to translate requirements into robust data solutions.

Produce documentation: Application specs, deployment guides, and runbooks.

Technical Stack

Oracle Database 19c (on‑prem or OCI), PL/SQL, SQL

Tools: SQL Developer, Toad

Versioning/CI: GitHub Actions

Reporting: SSRS, DevExpress (nice to have not mandatory)

Qualifications

Strong knowledge on RDBMS, Enterprise Data architecture (+5 years hand-on experience with Oracle Database and PL/SQL)

Strong knowledge of PL/ SQL including functions, procedures, packages, and triggers Solid SQL Tuning, Trace, and Performance experience for 19g Oracle databases

Strong knowledge of Oracle advanced querying techniques and writing high performing and optimized queries

Ability to Document technical specifications Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to the application in the form of support and defect resolution

Ability to collaborate with stakeholders working closely with other application developers, partners, and front-line application consultants.

Ability to support report development using various business intelligence platforms
