We have an exciting opportunity to join Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) as a Senior Operations Manager within the Operations team.
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of CNS security and security-related services across the province. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure contract compliance, service excellence, client satisfaction, and operational performance. The incumbent works closely with District Managers, the Atlantic Operations Centre, and Head Office departments to ensure CNS operational objectives are achieved while maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and employee engagement.
This position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities while fostering positive relationships with employees, clients, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
MANAGEMENT
Reviews and advises at the go/no go meetings new and renewal contracts in collaboration with the
COO, Contracts Officer, and District Managers (DMs).
Manages and increases revenues by promoting commercial services to clients
Oversees National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) call ups, including amendments with DMs and
NMSO manager.
Manages the effective delivery of security services for CNS.
Provides strong, decisive, and respectful leadership to the operations team.
Manages, with the DM, clients’ needs in accordance with Contract and Site Work Instruction’s.
Together with Director of Corporate Security, advises clients on security requirements.
Oversees that performance management targets are established and monitored for all direct reports.
Certifies open and effective communications between Operations and all other departments at CNS Head Office.
Participates in interview panels for operational internal job competitions as required.
Directs, with DOps and the COO, the lead on taskings at operational meetings. Works regularly in improving the company’s operations performance.
Manages the implementation of CNS EDI policies. Creates a work environment that is safe, clear of any bias and racist overtones, act fairly and swiftly to investigate all complaints.
Issues a weekly brief and monthly report to Dops and the COO on all updates and ongoing tasks, including vacancies, overtime paid, personal time off and sick days.
Together with Director of Corporate Security, advises clients on security requirements.

INSPECTIONS
Conducts annual site visits, both prearranged and no-notice, to all sites in terms of contract
compliance, dress, client satisfaction, and all critical documentation.
Manages contract compliance by client and CNS management, monitoring satisfaction of services to
all clients through site visits.
Is responsive in addressing Guard and Client concerns in a timely manner to ensure there a strong, positive working relationship with CNS employees and Clients.
Ensures contracts and SWI’s follow occupational health & safety rules and regulations.
RELATIONS
Investigates and resolves complaints, where required, from employees, clients, and the public
pertaining to applicable sites, and submitting report to COO.
Ensures compliance with personnel policy in accordance with the CNS Policies & Procedures,
Collective Agreement(s), Canada Labour Code, Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code, Occupational
Health & Safety Act and Human Rights Act at applicable sites.
Advises managers & supervisors on counselling personnel at applicable sites on problems affecting their work
performance and advising the COO.
Collaborates with the COO and Human Resources (HR) Manager addressing performance and disciplinary issues.
Ensures personnel receive acknowledgement for good performance and long service awards including
nominations for honours awards.
Conducts performance reviews for District managers and regional managers, pass on to COO.
Ensures effective communication to the DMs, weekly meetings, so that they are aware of operational
matters.
DOCUMENTATION
Monitors Site Visit Reports by managers in OnWatch, passes information on to COO through DOps.
Manages the site administration regarding Site Work Instruction (SWI).
Advises the preparation of contract proposals with the managers and contracts officer for COO.
Advises on reports relating to personnel issues including performance issues and discipline to COO.
Education and Knowledge
Education: (Minimum Required): Bachelor’s degree or a combination of related professional
training and experience.
Certifications: Secret security clearance. RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance. Valid Nova
Scotia driver's license

Professional/Technical Knowledge:
Five (5) years previous supervisory experience in a busy security business environment.
Excellent computer skills and aptitude in Microsoft products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as BambooHR and an On Watch software.
