About the role:
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Operations Engineer to join our Auckland Head Office, reporting to the Manager, Operations Engineering. The Operations Engineering team acts as the key engineering link between Production, Development, and Quality, supporting manufacturing performance, efficiency, and quality outcomes.
This role is responsible for resolving production issues, supporting manufacturing transfer, investigating quality events, and monitoring batch metrics across all production lines. You’ll play a hands-on, influential role in keeping complex, regulated manufacturing systems running at their best. You’ll work closely with Production, Process, Quality, Technical Services, and Facilities teams to drive continuous improvement. Other key responsibilities include:
Providing strong technical leadership and engineering expertise
Mentoring and developing junior engineers
Leading continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting production efficiency, output, and quality targets
Leading root-cause investigations and implementing robust, compliant solutions
Driving data-led decision making through performance metrics and trend analysis
What you’ll bring:
You’ll hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and bring strong technical experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally in medical devices or pharmaceuticals. You will also have:
5+ years in a similar operations engineering role (or related discipline)
Demonstrated technical capability in medical device manufacturing
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly
A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Proven experience working within GMP, ISO 13485, or similarly regulated environments
A continuous improvement mindset, with experience implementing sustainable process or system improvements
