About the Role

About the Role

Workday Mobile is used by millions of people around the globe every month. As a Senior Android Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and evolving the mobile experiences they rely on.

You’ll work across the stack of our Android codebase - from modern UI and design systems to networking and observability - helping us ship scalable features, improve the reliability and performance of the app, and influence our technical direction.

This role is a great fit if you enjoy leading by example, partnering closely with product and design, and mentoring other engineers while still being hands‑on with code.

Responsibilities

• Apply your Computer Science knowledge and programming skills while collaborating with a fun group of engineers

• Lead the development cycle through ownership of features and initiatives, from the conceptual stages all the way through to production

• Take ownership of the work you're doing, from active participation with partners, to prioritization and effort estimation, to writing well-tested code

• Bring others along with you, as you communicate decisions and challenges, mentor junior developers, and consistently help us elevate our standard of excellence

• Help us see trends in maintenance issues, proposing wider-scope solutions to ensure we fix problematic spaces once and for all

• As a valued team member, you will bring ideas forward to refine processes

About You

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing production-quality apps for Android using Kotlin, ideally Jetpack Compose

• 8+ years experience with mobile design and architectural patterns

• BS in Computer science or equivalent experience

• Experience with AI-assisted development (Cursor, Copilot, Claude). You know how to leverage AI to accelerate delivery, and you also know when to step in and rigorously review the code for performance and maintainability.

​Other Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Kotlin and the Android SDK

• Deep knowledge of Java and the Gradle build system

• Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role in projects

• Experience with mentoring other people on the team

• Passion for design, UI, and UX

• Advocate engineering excellence, clean code and best coding practices

• Test driven development skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience in working with agile methodologies
