AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to support the engineering and technical development of custom architectural woodwork and millwork projects. This role is responsible for translating design concepts into precise production-ready drawings and technical documentation used in fabrication and installation.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with custom millwork, architectural casework, and high-end interior construction projects. This position collaborates closely with project managers, designers, production teams, and installers to ensure designs are technically sound, manufacturable, and delivered on schedule.
Responsibilities
• Develop detailed millwork shop drawings, engineering documents, and fabrication packages for custom architectural woodwork projects
• Translate architectural drawings and design intent into production-ready technical drawings
• Coordinate closely with project managers, estimators, and production teams during project development
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and design documents to identify engineering requirements and constraints
• Ensure millwork designs meet industry standards, fabrication requirements, and installation considerations
• Support the submittal process including shop drawings, RFIs, and revisions during project execution
• Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure accurate interpretation of engineering drawings
• Assist with value engineering opportunities to improve manufacturability and cost efficiency
• Maintain drawing accuracy and version control throughout project lifecycle
Requirements:
• 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork, custom casework, or commercial woodworking engineering
• Strong experience producing millwork shop drawings and fabrication documentation
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, or other millwork design software
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and specifications
• Knowledge of millwork materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices
• Experience coordinating with project managers, designers, and fabrication teams
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active projects
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
