Senior MEP Engineering Manager (Industrial / Food Production) (m/f/x)

The role

As a Senior MEP Engineering Manager (Industrial / Food Production), you will support our Property team by providing specialised mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) and architectural expertise for various construction projects. This role involves managing the design process for MEP installations, particularly suited for industrial projects within the food industry, to ensure compliance with HelloFresh’s operational and quality standards. You’ll collaborate closely with Project Managers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that all design elements are optimized for cost, quality, and efficiency.

What you’ll do

• Project Design Support: Serve as a key technical resource for Project Managers, assisting with MEP and architectural design integration, and ensuring all project specifications are met.

• Design Process Management: Oversee the design process for MEP installations, particularly for industrial and food industry projects, ensuring adherence to regulatory and operational standards.

• Technical Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external consultants, coordinating the review and integration of MEP and architectural designs with a focus on practicality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

• Consultancy Collaboration: Collaborate with design consultants to review and validate MEP designs, facilitating adjustments to align with project objectives and company standards.

• Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits and design reviews to confirm adherence to design intent and quality benchmarks, recommending modifications as needed to address site-specific challenges.

• Budget and Cost Optimization: Work with Project Managers and procurement to keep design elements within budget constraints, providing expertise to value-engineer solutions that meet cost targets.

• Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all design activities meet local regulations, building codes, and HelloFresh standards for safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

What you’ll bring

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is an advantage.

• Professional Experience:

• Consultancy Background: Minimum of 5-7 years experience in MEP design or building services engineering, ideally within consultancy roles for industrial or food industry projects.

• Contracting Background: 7-10 years experience required for candidates with a contracting background in similar project types.

• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of building services engineering, particularly in the design and installation of MEP systems for industrial environments, preferably for HVAC/cooling in the food industry.

• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with building codes, construction best practices, and regulatory requirements specific to industrial projects.

• Software Proficiency: Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools), as well as Google Suite and MS Office for project coordination and documentation.

• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities to identify, troubleshoot, and address design challenges within project constraints.

• Operating Skills: Self-directed, problem-solving and organized, escalating blockers early with recommendations to senior management

• Communication Skills: Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex design concepts to a range of stakeholders.

• Language Skills: Fluent English, both spoken and written. Good knowledge of other languages (preferably German, French or Dutch) will be a significant plus.

• Travel: Willingness and ability to frequent travel and international mobility

• Previous experience in design-build or general contractor settings is advantageous, along with knowledge of sustainable practices in industrial construction.
