Accountabilities:
• Perform the range of tests and procedures related to their corporate modality
• Technical resource to staff
• Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the corporate modality; safety 'super user'
• Review and revision of departmental and modality policies, processes and procedures
• Ensure that the work of assigned staff meets quality and safety standards and identifies opportunities for improvement
• In accordance with regulatory, Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare accreditation and hospital requirements, maintain regulatory equipment and inventory
• Perform projects and validations as directed by supervisor/charge
• Bench orientation and training of front-line staff
• Key operator for analyzers
• Ensure proper techniques are utilized and ensure that work output meets established standards
• Inventory management (reagents, quality control, supplies and consumables)
• Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technology program or equivalent education (CSMLS)
• Must be registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
• Minimum three years experience as a laboratory technologist required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills required
• Experience with hospital information systems, laboratory information systems and Paradigm document control software an asset
• Demonstrated ability to coach staff; strong conflict resolution skills an asset
• Proven dedication to continuing education and continuous learning; leadership courses would be an asset
• Experience in developing processes and procedures an asset
• Proven skills and competence in departmental policies, processes and procedures
• Experience coordinating workflow and prioritizing in a fast paced environment 
• Demonstrate excellence in organization and time management skills to meet deadlines
• Demonstrate mature judgment and initiative and ability to effectively problem solve
• Strong ability to multi-task, be assertive, flexible and responsive to conflicting priorities
• Must possess strong motivation skills as well as being self-motivated
• Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Excellent computer knowledge and skills
• Excellent attendance and punctuality record

• Ability to work and travel between all Osler sites
Hours: Currently days, evenings and nights including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
SALARY:
Minimum: $42.26 per hour
Maximum: $53.30 per hour
