Senior Medical Affairs Specialist

We have the flexibility to offer this position either on Sr Specialist or on Associate Director level, to be adjusted to the experience of the successful candidate.

The Cardiovascular Therapeutic Area (CV-TA) Senior Specialist/Associate Director, Medical Affairs will assume a key role within the organization, will work collaboratively with other members of the Medical Affairs team in the development and execution of the Medical Affairs plan for aficamten as well as collaborate cross-functionally with the Commercial and Clinical departments in the strategic planning and life-cycle management process of our cardiovascular portfolio.

The Senior Specialist/AD will provide support to internal colleagues, resolve medical issues, and provide critical input into the development of medical documents (external scientific communications, standard response letters, training materials, product materials, publications, research ideas, internal training materials, etc.) to ensure high strategic and scientific standards. Importantly, the Sr. Specialist/AD will serve as a key member of the Medical Affairs Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy team, may represent Medical Affairs externally through presentations at advisory boards, key scientific meetings, and interactions with our key investigators. Additionally, the Sr Specialist will support strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and professional societies.

Responsibilities

• Supports the development of aficamten, including

• Assists in development of strategic planning,

• Execution of medical launch activities,

• Education of healthcare practitioners and internal teams regarding the clinical profile of aficamten and its place in HCM therapy

• Support the Medical Affairs review of medical and promotional scientific materials related to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and aficamten

• Provide day‐to‐day medical guidance while working closely with other members of the Medical Affairs team in Zug and in Europe and cross-functionally within Cytokinetics and with external business partners. Activities include:

• Participation in appropriate cross‐functional and cross‐company Medical and Commercial teams to inform brand strategies and tactics and represent Medical Affairs

• Clinical and scientific support in responding to inquiries from healthcare professionals

• Scientific congress/conference strategy and planning, advisory boards, publication steering committee meetings, field force training, review of medical information standard response letters, and marketing/policy related projects.

• Input into medical education, grant, and sponsorship review

• Scientific input into publication strategy for the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy therapeutic area, including review of abstracts and posters for presentation at scientific meetings and manuscripts for publication

• Help develop integrated evidence plan (IEP) strategy including life cycle management through leading workstreams to identify evidence gaps and establishes linkage between Medical, Research and Development (R&D), HEOR to develop data generation.

• Support scientific and clinical priorities for an investigator sponsored study program as we near launch and support the internal review committee that adjudicates submitted research proposals.

• Present data at company advisory board meetings and training programs.

• Help identify and effectively interact with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy external experts to engage in scientific exchange to meet the needs of patients and the medical community.

Qualifications

• PharmD/PhD/MD with prior pharmaceutical industry experience preferred (+1 year for Sr. Specialist, and more for AD level).

• Proven ability to work independently and as a member of an integrated, interdisciplinary team in carrying out assigned responsibilities

• Must be analytical and articulate in both oral and in writing skills, possess excellent presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate well with others at varying professional levels

• Background in academic medicine, clinical research, and familiarity with biostatistics and epidemiology highly desirable

• A history of clinical or research collaboration with opinion leaders in the CV-TA is preferred

• Familiarity with EFPIA, PhRMA code, and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry a plus

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Knowledge of other European languages beyond English highly desirable

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~20% of time)
