Job Description
Senior Manager, Transformation & Strategy Delivery
Location: Brookvale, NSW (onsite role)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Role Purpose:
Hardware & General is undertaking a multi-year strategic transformation focused on simplifying the business, modernising operations, and strengthening execution discipline across the organisation.
The Senior Manager, Transformation & Strategy Delivery will be responsible for ensuring that the CEO-led strategy is translated into clear actions, tracked rigorously, and executed with discipline across the business. They will be managing the PMO function as it begins to take shape.
This role does not set strategy.
It exists to ensure that strategy is translated into action, governed rigorously, and delivered with pace and accountability.
You will act as the operational backbone of the strategy, reporting directly to the CEO: owning cadence, governance, tooling (including Cascade), and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy Execution & Governance
• Translate strategic priorities into clear initiatives, milestones, and owners
• Maintain a structured execution framework across all strategic workstreams
• Ensure initiatives remain aligned to agreed strategic objectives
• Escalate slippage, blockers, and misalignment early and clearly
2. PMO & Cadence Ownership
• Own the execution rhythm of the business:
o Weekly / fortnightly executive check-ins
o Monthly strategy reviews
o Quarterly planning and reset cycles
• Prepare concise, decision-focused packs for leadership meetings
• Track actions, decisions, and commitments — and follow them through
3. Cascade Platform Ownership
• Be the internal owner of the Cascade strategy execution platform
• Ensure initiatives, KPIs, milestones, and owners are kept current
• Train leaders and managers on expectations and usage
• Use Cascade to surface insights, risks, and progress — not just reporting
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
• Work across departments to support initiative owners in execution
• Bring structure and momentum to cross-functional initiatives
• Support leaders with clarity on priorities, dependencies, and sequencing
• Act as a neutral organiser and facilitator, not a line manager
5. CEO Partnership
• Work in close, daily partnership with the CEO
• Act as a thought partner on execution trade-offs, sequencing, and resourcing
• Surface risks, resistance, and execution gaps early while adhering to company policies and respectful workplace standards
• Support the CEO by structuring, tracking, and surfacing execution priorities, risks, and decisions in a clear and timely manner
6. Reporting & Insight
• Produce clear, concise reporting on:
o Progress vs plan
o Risks and dependencies
o Key decisions required from leadership
• Focus on outcomes and momentum, not bureaucracy
• Help the CEO and leadership team see where attention is needed
What This Role Is — and Is Not:
This role is
• One that requires versatility to ensure things get done beyond simply providing directions
• Will initially operate as a standalone PMO function, with the opportunity to build capability over time
• Execution-focused
• Cadence-driven
• Close to the CEO
• Critical to maintaining momentum
• A high EQ role
This role is not
• A strategy design role
• A consulting “deck-building” role
• A line management position
• A passive reporting role
Success comes from discipline, follow-through, and clarity, not hierarchy.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
You are likely to succeed if you have:
• Proven experience in:
o Management consulting
o PMO
o Strategic initiatives
o Transformation support
o Program or project management
• Experience supporting senior executives in complex organisations
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confidence to chase actions and hold people to account — respectfully
• Comfort working across multiple functions without formal authority
• High personal standards around follow-through and reliability
• A high degree of personal resilience and EQ to work across an array of stakeholders
Backgrounds that fit well:
• MBB / Big 4 / mid-tier consulting or in-house transformation / PMO roles (candidates with strong execution focus preferred over pure strategy backgrounds)
• In-house PMO or transformation roles
• Corporate operations or strategy enablement teams
Personal Attributes That Matter:
• This role operates in a hands-on, non-corporate environment and requires comfort working in a practical, fast-moving business with imperfect systems and evolving processes
• Structured, calm, and organised under pressure
• Versatility and a ‘roll the sleeves up’ attitude
• Comfortable working closely with a CEO
• Direct, clear communicator
• Pragmatic and low-ego
• Enjoys making systems run properly
• Takes pride in execution excellence
Why This Role Is Attractive:
• Direct exposure to the CEO and leadership team
• Real influence on how strategy is executed
• Minimal travel and predictable working rhythm
• Tangible outcomes — you will see your work land
• Opportunity to grow with the business as capability and complexity increase
Success in the First 6 Months:
• Clear execution cadence embedded across leadership team
• All strategic initiatives documented, owned, and tracked in Cascade
• Regular, structured reporting rhythm established
• Improved follow-through and reduced slippage across key initiatives
• CEO and leadership team have clear visibility on priorities and risks
Career Progression:
This role can evolve into:
• Head of Transformation and Strategy Delivery
• Senior PMO / Transformation Lead
• Broader operations or execution leadership roles
• Expanded mandate as the business matures its execution capability
Growth and progression is based on impact and reliability, not tenure.
At this stage, only direct candidates will be considered, as we have a dedicated H&G internal recruitment team.
