This is not a traditional regulatory role. You will operate at the intersection of policy, product and commercial strategy, ensuring that:

Kraken can successfully enter and scale in complex markets by translating regulatory complexity into commercial advantage
•
Our clients can maximise the value of the platform within evolving regulatory frameworks
•
Market rules evolve in ways supportive of digital, platform-led energy systems
The role's primary focus will be on leading the Regulatory Affairs and Market Development team’s work in Spain, with the ability to support a secondary market (likely France and/or Italy/Portugal).
What You'll Do::
•
Own Kraken’s regulatory and market positioning in Spain
•
Build and maintain relationships with regulators, policymakers, clients, and industry stakeholders
•
Shape Kraken’s perspective on market design, reform, and regulatory evolution
Drive Policy Influence & Advocacy
•
Develop and execute advocacy strategies aligned with Kraken’s commercial objectives
•
Influence regulatory outcomes on key topics (e.g. digitalisation, pricing frameworks, flexibility market design)
•
Represent Kraken in industry forums, consultations, and policy forums
Translate Regulation into Commercial Impact
Partner with sales on strategic deals to:
•
Address regulatory barriers affecting growth or delivery
•
Improve client confidence in Kraken’s market readiness
•
Strengthen business cases to improve win rates
Support product and delivery teams by:
•
Anticipating regulatory-driven requirements and feeding into product roadmap prioritisation
•
Reducing reliance on market-specific product customisation
Market Intelligence
•
Monitor regulatory developments across Spain and (preferably) France/ Portugal and translate these into clear, actionable recommendations to shape product changes and commercial decisions
Support Expansion
•
Knowledge-share and collaborate with RAMD colleagues across the EMEA region and globe
•
Support entry into additional markets where needed
What You'll Need: :
•
Experience: 5+ years of experience within Spain’s energy sector, ideally at an energy regulator, energy supplier, or within an organisation directly influencing policy.
•
Regulatory knowledge: Strong understanding of energy regulation and the fundamentals of the green energy landscape, with awareness or interest in broader European regulatory frameworks.
•
Strong networking and community-building skills: Proven ability to connect with, influence, and engage key stakeholders, to help enhance Kraken’s profile within the Spanish energy market.
•
Analytical skills: Ability to interpret policy, regulatory developments, and market trends, and understand/communicate opportunities and challenges to the business.
•
Passion for energy transformation: A genuine interest in clean energy, sustainability, and the transition to a low-carbon future.
•
Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English.
It would be great if you have
•
Experience in French energy markets and fluency in French or regulatory expertise across other European markets (Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, or Denmark) along with proficiency in the relevant local language
•
Experience supporting international expansion and product and commercial strategy
•
Knowledge of digital energy platforms and customer centric technology solutions
