We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Agentic AI group, focused on building the foundational components that power our next-generation proposal agents. This role is hands-on, ML-engineering driven, and central to operationalizing LLM and agent-based workflows in production. You will collaborate closely with the Applied Scientists, Product, and Engineering to transform designs into scalable, reliable agentic systems that deliver measurable customer value.

What You’ll Be Doing

Advanced Modeling & Applied Science

Build foundational components for multi agent systems including planners, tool orchestrators, reflection modules, and structured feedback loops.

Implement reasoning capabilities such as validators, summarizers, context interpreters, and correction routines that strengthen agent autonomy and reliability.

Develop and fine tune LLM and NLP models that support retrieval, reasoning, and generation across the agent workflow.

Apply modern ML techniques including embeddings, prompt pipelines, small scale fine tuning, and retrieval augmented methods to improve accuracy and consistency.

Translate scientific designs and experiments into production ready engineering components that operate predictably under real world conditions.

System Architecture & Engineering

Design and build scalable ML services, APIs, and agent runtime components in Python with strong engineering discipline.

Implement state management, control flow, and execution coordination for multi step agent loops, ensuring traceable and debuggable behavior.

Integrate agents with retrieval systems, knowledge components, and data services to provide context rich and consistent reasoning.

Ensure production readiness through strong engineering fundamentals including testing, observability, logging, latency management, and reliability.

Contribute to architecture decisions that balance modeling complexity with performance, maintainability, and long term scalability.

Delivery, Collaboration & Leadership

Break down complex agentic features into structured implementation plans with clear milestones and high quality execution.

Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Applied Science partners to align plans, resolve constraints, and deliver meaningful customer outcomes.

Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering and ML best practices across the agent platform.

Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers on ML engineering, applied NLP, and agent workflow implementation.

Demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering reliable and impactful systems.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Proven Expertise in Machine Learning, Language Models, and NLP

4+ years applying ML in production with practical depth in NLP, LLM workflows, embeddings, or retrieval augmented systems.

Hands on and deep experience with transformer models, prompt structured or fine tuned LLMs, for reasoning and generation tasks.

Ability to turn prototypes into stable engineering solutions that perform consistently in production environments.

System Design, Scalability, and Software Engineering Rigor

Strong proficiency in Python, modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and API or microservice development.

Experience building scalable and reliable ML services with attention to latency, observability, testing, deployment patterns, and runtime durability.

Ability to design robust agentic components including control flow, state management, and integrations with retrieval and knowledge systems.

Business and Product Acumen

Ability to frame technical decisions in terms of customer impact, product value, and measurable improvements to workflow efficiency or answer quality.

Strong collaboration skills with cross functional partners to align priorities and drive clear, grounded execution.

Comfort operating with ownership and urgency in a fast moving environment focused on delivering meaningful outcomes.

Where You’ll Work

Loopio is a global company, HQ’d in Canada, that embraces flexible and effective work models. While many of our teams operate remotely, this role is part of a new, strategic product team that will work in a hybrid model to accelerate innovation and foster deep collaboration.

For this role, you will be based in our Toronto, Ontario hub, with the expectation of working from our co-working space in downtown Toronto 3 days per week. This approach is intentionally designed to give you the best of both worlds: high-impact, in-person collaboration with your team to drive impactful product initiatives, and the flexibility of focused work-from-home days.

Our co-working space located in the heart of Downtown Toronto and a 12-minute walk from Union Station

Our employees (or Loopers, as we call ourselves!) live and work in Canada (British Columbia and Ontario), London, and India (specifically in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru).

You’ll collaborate with your teams virtually across the UK, India, and North America (we’re just a Zoom call and Slack message away!) with core sync hours and focus time for headsdown work during the workday
