Senior Lecturer
Whitecliffe invites applications for the Senior Lecturer title from established academics who demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintains active engagement in research, and provides guidance and mentorship to colleagues. This title requires proven teaching expertise, curriculum development experience, and recognized research contributions. Senior Lecturers will have a Master's degree or higher in a related field and a relevant teaching qualification.
Using the Table of Progressions and the Application for Academic Progression Guidance as your reference, compile and attach evidence that demonstrates your qualifications and achievements in support of your application for the title of Senior Lecturer. Please ensure your documentation substantiates how you meet or exceed the required criteria for this academic advancement.
Teaching and Learning
• Mentor and support colleagues to teach effectively using blended learning approaches and advanced teaching strategies.
• Undertake academic responsibilities and related administration for the coordination of courses, including the coordination of teaching teams where relevant.
• Model and promote inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practice.
• Support the development of teaching resources and the embedding of digital and blended learning approaches.
Programme Design and Development
• Guide the development and design of high-quality courses and learning resources that are relevant to the level, subject content, learner characteristics, and delivery modes, meeting both learner and industry or professional body expectations.
• Contribute to quality assurance and review processes for courses and programmes.
• Apply evidence-based and industry-informed practice to course and resource development.
Professional Development
• Maintain currency and competence in your area of expertise as well as innovative teaching approaches.
• Actively engage in professional learning that supports both discipline expertise and pedagogical development.
Research
• Engage in practitioner inquiry and applied research that connects teaching, learning, and industry practice.
• Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, with outputs relevant to industry-informed education.
• Collaborate with industry partners on applied projects that enrich the learning environment.
• Supervise student research.
Contribution to Academic, Industry and wider Community
• Lead programme initiatives and change.
• Maintain strong links to local industries and communities.
• Contribute to academic and student policies.
• Support and mentor junior colleagues, contributing to a collegial and collaborative team environment.
