Senior Lead Software Engineer (Life Sciences & Healthcare)

We are looking for a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join our Technology Consulting team in Barcelona.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead development on ClaRITA, our flagship Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory Intelligence platform, and other innovative solutions. You will work with modern architectures, microservices, and cloud-native technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.

The team consists of 8 engineers and reports to the Director of Technical Consulting. We’re looking for someone who brings strong experience in modern software engineering practices, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and CI/CD automation to guide and elevate our development capabilities.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, backend/frontend development, or technical leadership roles.
Proven experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures, cloud-native applications, and CI/CD pipelines.
Expertise in Python and JavaScript, with solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience with one major frontend framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
Strong understanding of testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).

It would be great if you also had

Familiarity with serverless architectures, Java, or AI/ML concepts.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
Knowledge of security best practices in distributed and cloud environments.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

What will you be doing in this role?

Architecture & Development: Design and implement scalable, maintainable software solutions using microservices and modern frameworks.
Cloud & Performance: Optimize applications for cloud environments (AWS preferred) ensuring reliability and cost efficiency.
Testing & Quality: Establish robust testing practices and ensure high-quality code delivery.
Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, DevOps engineers, and QA teams to streamline development and deployment.
Innovation: Evaluate and introduce new technologies and practices to continuously improve our platforms.

Product you will be developing

ClaRITA – a cutting-edge Regulatory Intelligence platform, deployed in a secure, scalable cloud environment.

In addition to ClaRITA, you will contribute to consulting products and solutions that are cloud-native by design, incorporating the latest technologies such as serverless computing, event-driven architectures, and observability frameworks. These solutions enable our clients to modernize their operations, accelerate digital transformation, and achieve compliance in highly regulated environments.

Our technology stack includes Java (Groovy), JavaScript, Vue, Angular, AWS services, Docker, CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions, databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB and monitoring solutions such as DataDog. We continuously explore emerging technologies to ensure our platforms remain at the forefront of innovation.

About the Team

You will join a dynamic Technology Consulting team focused on delivering innovative solutions for global clients in the Life Sciences sector. The team includes backend engineers, DevOps specialists, and solution architects, working with modern tools like AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August). The position is hybrid going to our office in Barcelona (next to Sagrada Familia) 2-3 times per week.
