Department Overview
The Motorola Solution Video Services team is responsible for the architecture, design, and development of cloud-based Video Management Solutions servicing Public Safety and Enterprise Customers. Motorola Solutions designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions that help change the way people interact with their security systems. We are seeking a Senior DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer to build the high-performance, ultra-reliable cloud foundations that power these essential services. Our products allow customers to respond effectively in mission-critical operating environments. Job Description
Responsibilities Include:
• Independent Infrastructure Ownership: Propose and implement architectural approaches for cloud infrastructure components across Azure and GCP, working independently with limited supervision.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Own the lifecycle of environments using Terraform and manage complex Kubernetes application deployments via Helm.
• Security & Compliance: Implement Best Cloud Security Practices to protect sensitive data, ensuring adherence to strict government and enterprise security mandates.
• Reliability & Performance: Develop solution resilience and reliability mechanisms (observability, auto-scaling, self-healing) to enhance the performance of the job area.
• Technical Coaching: Act as a trusted source for code and infrastructure reviews; coach and review the work of lower-level professionals to ensure high-quality standards.
• Collaborative Triage: Support and triage complex production issues, coordinating with software teams to optimize Java-based microservices and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Operational Excellence: Work to achieve operational targets with a significant impact on departmental results, including uptime, deployment velocity, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
• Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. This requirement is due to specific U.S. Government Contract Mandates and access to sensitive public safety data.
• Experience: Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience in DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering.
• Cloud Platforms: Seasoned proficiency in Azure and GCP.
• Tooling Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Terraform for provisioning and Helm for Kubernetes orchestration.
• Software Foundation: Practical knowledge of Java or similar general-purpose languages to troubleshoot and support application-level infrastructure.
• Security: Deep understanding of Cloud Security Best Practices (IAM, network hardening, encryption).
• Problem Solving: Proven ability to solve difficult and complex technical problems by drawing from prior experience and detailed analysis.
• Communication: Able to influence others regarding policies and procedures; proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
Target Base Salary Range: $135,000 USD - $155,000 USD

Note: Candidate must be in the Chicago office 2 days per week.

Basic Requirements
• Bachelors Degree with 4+ years of devops, SRE, or systems engineering experience
• AND 2+ years of Java experience
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
