Job Description
As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will join the Experience Design and Research (EDR) team, a cross-functional group of industrial designers, UI/UX experts, and researchers. In this role, you will design hardware solutions for professional-grade markets, addressing the distinct challenges of police, fire, and industrial environments—from managing high cognitive loads during emergencies to ensuring equipment works seamlessly with heavy turnout gear. You will work in a highly collaborative environment that leverages social sciences and human-centered design to transform complex challenges into critical experiences. Based in our global design hubs, you will influence the next generation of safety and security technology while working alongside cognitive scientists and engineering partners in a culture that values empathy, clarity, and design integrity.
Basic Requirements
• Design Innovation and Strategy
• Create world-class hardware designs that function effectively in fast-paced and extreme mission-critical environments
• Establish and defend user-driven, principle-based designs across multiple parallel projects
• Leverage AI as a creative co-partner in brainstorming to rapidly explore design variations and accelerate the ideation process
• Quickly identify and create appropriate design concepts while maintaining strict design intent through final production
• Research and Analysis
• Analyze complex problems to uncover the core issues regarding users, context, and environmental constraints
• Uncover unmet needs and develop them into design solutions grounded by end-user requirements and solid value propositions
• Judge concept effectiveness by linking designs directly to use cases, user requirements, and validated research data
• Collaboration and Execution
• Integrate effectively into a multidisciplinary group including behavioral scientists, interaction designers, and human factors engineers
• Partner with marketing and engineering teams to ensure the successful implementation and manufacturing of industrial designs
• Utilize AI tools for visual storytelling to communicate user journeys or product value propositions through animations and videos
Job Requirements
• Technical Expertise
• 2-D Visualization including Sketching, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop to communicate high-fidelity design concepts
• 3-D CAD proficiency in SolidWorks, Pro E, or Rhino to build precise hardware models
• Video and Animation tools such as Adobe After Effects to perform visual storytelling of user experiences
• AI-Powered Design Tools to enhance design output and increase workflow efficiency
• Advanced English Proficiency to collaborate and communicate design principles within a global team environment
• Professional Experience
• Demonstrated experience in Industrial Hardware Design to lead projects from ideation through production
• Academic background in an accredited Industrial Design program; a Master’s degree is preferred
• Portfolio Submission required to demonstrate a history of successful product designs and creative problem-solving
