Job Description

We are Chandos

We exist to build a better world.

Our vision is to emerge as Canada’s premier technical builder, distinguished by our relentless pursuit of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in all that we do. Our three missions guide our daily work and help us achieve our purpose and vision. And the way we behave as we work towards these ambitious goals is to embrace and champion inclusion, collaboration, innovation, and courage.

We are 100 per cent employee-owned, and our success is driven by our employee owners. We prioritize people, purpose, and performance in all that we do.

Every employee has a financial stake in the company’s performance. When the company thrives, you benefit directly. When everyone is invested—literally—it builds a community of accountability, pride and mutual support.

We look for team members who are gritty, accountable, and driven — with a mindset rooted in initiative and purpose, you think like an entrepreneur and build strong, trusting relationships through clear communication and thoughtful dialogue, even in challenging conversations.

Chandos is growing across Canada, and we’re looking for an experienced HR Business Partner. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Business Partnering, this role is accountable for enabling people practices that align with business priorities, performance goals, and long‑term growth.

As a Senior HRBP, you will act as a trusted advisor to leaders, applying data and insight to decision‑making, and navigating complexity in a fast‑moving environment. You will proactively identify risks and opportunities, support leaders through critical decisions, and contribute to the ongoing success of the organization.

In this role, you’ll provide full‑spectrum HR support to your districts — including employee relations, workforce planning, recruitment, leader coaching, and organizational change. You will draw on deep HR experience to effectively navigate high‑impact or sensitive situations.

You’ll partner with our Strategic Recruitment team to ensure your hiring activities align with established best practices and recruitment standards, and you’ll collaborate with HR Program and Policy teams to support broader initiatives across talent, total rewards, employee relations, and HR technology.

This role includes travel to district locations to build strong, in‑person relationships and provide hands‑on support.

What You’ll Do

• Provide proactive HR support across the full employee lifecycle, using a consultative approach to ensure HR activities align with leadership priorities and workforce needs

• Serve as a trusted thought partner to leaders, supporting effective decision‑making and strong team performance

• Own and lead employee relations matters, providing balanced, risk‑aware guidance in high‑impact and sensitive situations

• Leverage data, insights, and workforce trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities and inform business decisions

• Work in partnership with leaders to align people priorities in support of business performance and growth

• Support and drive workforce planning and organizational design activities, ensuring structure, capabilities, and talent align with current and future needs

• Drive end‑to‑end recruitment for salaried roles, partnering with leaders to support informed hiring decisions aligned with workforce and organizational priorities

• Collaborate with HR program and policy teams on broader initiatives
• Champion a positive, inclusive, and values‑driven culture

• 6–10 years of progressive HR experience, including HR Business Partnering in complex, multi-site or operational environments
• Strong experience with HRIS/HRMS platforms and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
• Proven ability to advise and influence senior leaders, bringing credibility, confidence, and sound judgment.
• Strong experience in organizational design, workforce planning, and change leadership
• Demonstrated success navigating complex employee relations matters
• High level of business acumen and the ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes
• Experience using data and insights to inform decisions and tell a compelling story
• Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization
• Commitment to building inclusive, high-performing, values-driven teams
• Willingness to travel regularly to support district teams (approximately 20%)
• CPHR designation

Chandos is an equal opportunity employer and we are committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture and this includes our recruitment and hiring process.

We recognize that our differences are our greatest strengths. We uncover talent. We nurture talent. And then we give people the tools they need to use their talent to create a positive impact.

• We are 100% employee owned. Every person who works for Chandos can become an owner. There is only one class of units at Chandos, because we believe everyone should be treated equal. We talk about being an entrepreneurial-minded organization and you can be sure we mean it!
• Competitive wages
• Well rounded employer paid benefits program including health, dental, vision care and employee assistance program
• RRSP matching program to aid and prepare employees for long-term financial security
• Educational assistance for employees who wish to pursue job-performance enhancing education
• Recognition and annual salary reviews program
• Leadership conferences that allow employees to connect and collaborate
• Regular company-wide engagement opportunities
