Job Purpose:This is an important role within the JC India Shared Service Centre (SSC) supporting customers in John Crane and The Smiths Group by managing and providing accounting services.  The role is to lead the general accounting including accruals, prepayments, journals, taxation support, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close activities and the undertaking of the financial controls operated within the SSC for the assigned entities. Responsibilities also include the Balance Sheet Review process for assigned entities and working closely with the entity Controlling teams to ensure the accuracy of the accounting records.
Responsibilities:
Key areas of support will include but not limited:
• Accruals & prepayments
• General Ledger Journals
• General ledger Reconciliations
• Intercompany recharge management
• Fixed Asset Accounting
• Month-end close activities
• Preparation of Balance Sheet Reviews and the provision of supporting documentation
• Support the annual financial statement audits by providing analysis and supporting documentation
• Support local direct and indirect tax filings by providing reports and analysis
• Monthly upload of SAP to IBM Cognos TM1 for internal reporting
• Additional half-year and year-end reporting in Onyx
• Monitoring and undertaking of financial controls
• Ensuring strict compliance with financial & business controls required by the Division/Group and external auditors.
• Support to Internal and External audits of Group and statutory accounts
• Support to Shared Service Projects as required
Technical  
• Strong numeric background. – Essential
• Commercial experience working in a finance environment – Essential
• Excellent Microsoft Office especially in Excel (Lookup, Pivots, etc.) – Essential
• Knowledge of SAP – Essential
Planning and Decision Making:
• The ability to plan their workload within a team and to meet tight deadlines
• A good team player with a flexible approach and the ability to work on own initiative and within a team is essential.
• Knowledge and experience of identifying and improving processes
Impact and Scope: 
• Ability to cope with month end reporting, tight deadlines
• Ensure good working environment within the finance team and immediate action to resolve disputes
• Building strong relationships with Senior SSC Leaders, Internal/External Auditors and finance business partners
Key Internal and External Relationships: 
• Reporting to the Senior Supervisor – General Accounting
• Key member in the Finance SSC Team
• Key liaison with Internal and External Auditors
• Banks and Group Treasury
• Senior Finance Managers/Controllers/Directors for banking activities
• Regional Controller
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
• A professional accounting qualification is desirable
• 5 plus year of financial accounting experience in a Shared Service team
• 5-10 years of total work experience, CA inter /ICWA inter preferred
• Professional and strong understanding of IFRS
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills
• Strong influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills
• A self-starter with an ability to think logically
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
