Senior Functional Test Engineer - MES/MPE

The Senior Functional Test Engineer is responsible for designing, preparing and executing functional test cases across MES (APRISO) and MPE application scopes. Working closely with the France teams, this role ensures that functional requirements are correctly translated into test scenarios, defects are identified and tracked rigorously, and quality gates are met before each release.

• Design and execute comprehensive functional test cases covering MES and MPE business processes
• Prepare representative test datasets aligned with real production use cases
• Report and track all identified defects through to resolution
• Validate corrective fixes and perform structured regression testing
• Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions with business stakeholders
• Exchange actively with development team and business analyst team to accelerate bug explanation and functional scope clarification

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse functional specifications, user stories and change requests to derive test scenarios
• Write detailed test plans and test cases with clear acceptance criteria
• Build and maintain test datasets representative of production scenarios (manufacturing orders, routing, BOM, etc.)
• Execute manual test cases on MES and MPE modules according to the test plan
• Log, document and track defects using issue tracking tools (Jira, TestRail or equivalent)
• Perform regression testing after bug fixes and validate non-regression across existing features
• Write structured test execution reports for France teams and project management
• Participate in UAT sessions and support business users during validation phases
• Contribute to the test knowledge base and maintain test documentation up to date
• Liaise with developers to clarify expected behaviour and reproduce reported defects

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Functional testing of industrial or MES software (APRISO, SAP MES or similar)
• Test case design and writing: equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis, decision tables
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: production orders, routing, BOM, work orders
• Test management tools: Jira, Squash, or equivalent
• Basic understanding of SQL for test data verification
• Reading technical and functional specifications in English

• Strong written communication skills in English (B2 minimum)
• Ability to work independently and manage own test workload

Education & Experience 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or equivalent

Required Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in functional software testing, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing software context.

• Strong experience in writing and executing test cases for complex business applications
• Demonstrated experience with defect lifecycle management and regression testing
• Familiarity with manufacturing ERP, PLM or MES environments is a strong advantage
• Experience with APRISO or comparable MES platforms is highly desirable
• ISTQB Foundation certification is an asset
