Senior Full-Stack Engineer at The Tech Collective

 

 

We’re looking for a senior full-stack engineer with a strong interest in building AI-first products who enjoys owning problems end-to-end – from vague client needs and early hypotheses to production-grade systems that actually get used. 

What you’ll do 

You’ll join The Tech Collective (specifically our Data & AI hub), where we help organisations design, build, and operationalise data- and AI-driven solutions. 

This role is for a systems thinker and builder – someone who has shipped real products, taken responsibility for technical direction, and is motivated by creating pragmatic solutions that combine data, software, and AI. 

You’ll work closely with experienced AI specialists who bring deep model and ML expertise, while you focus on building robust products and software around those capabilities. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• End-to-end solution ownership: designing and implementing full-stack applications from early concepts and prototypes to scalable, production-grade systems, including architecture decisions across frontend, backend, data, and cloud 
• Modern full-stack development: building high-quality frontends and backend services, applying sound software engineering principles, and using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully and critically 
• AI-enabled product building: collaborating with AI specialists to integrate LLMs, retrieval pipelines, and agentic patterns into real products, and translating AI potential into solutions that make sense for organisations 
• Data and systems thinking: designing data models, reasoning about distributed systems and trade-offs, and implementing event-driven or real-time features where they add value 
• Cloud, delivery, and collaboration: deploying and operating solutions in cloud environments, balancing speed, robustness, and security, and working closely with clients and stakeholders to create tangible business impact 

What you’ll bring 

We’re looking for someone with an AI builder mentality and 5+ years of hands-on full-stack experience, who is comfortable owning applications end to end – from frontend and backend to data and deployment.  

You don’t need to tick every box, but you should recognise yourself in most of the following: 

• Strong full-stack foundation: solid skills in TypeScript and/or Python, with experience building and shipping production systems 
• Ownership and leadership: a track record of building substantial solutions from scratch (e.g., startup, scale-up, or personal ventures), taking responsibility for outcomes, and leading technical direction without relying on formal authority 
• System-level thinking: the ability to reason about architecture, data flows, trade-offs, and failure modes across the stack, and to make pragmatic decisions in ambiguous contexts 
• Critical technical judgement: a keen eye for identifying weaknesses in existing architectures and tech stacks, and knowing where and how to improve them 
• Communication and collaboration: the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, work across disciplines, and learn from – and share knowledge with – others
