Senior Frontend Software Engineer

Skyral develops synthetic environments that are used as Digital Twins and Decision support tools specifically built to provide the customer with the information and insight they need to make better decisions. We specialise in providing data analytics not just of what is, but of what if scenarios, by modelling population patterns of life and infrastructure such as transport networks and terrain to allow decision makers to see the possible outcomes of their plans.

We are seeking a Software Engineer to help create and improve these solutions, and empower our users to make synthetic environments and supporting applications at the level of complexity and scale they desire.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, we can only consider applicants who would be eligible to obtain government security clearance. As a minimum requirement, an individual must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.

What We Are Looking For::
• Comfort in operating in ambiguous, fast-changing customer environments.
• Ability to engage with customers to understand their evolving requirements and collaboratively shape the technical vision.
• Pragmatic decision-making: able to prioritise technical choices that align with Skyral’s objectives, balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering meaningful outcomes, not just technical outputs.
• Proven expertise with at least one leading JavaScript SPA framework (React is preferred)
• Experience building web service APIs (such as a RESTful and gRPC services)
• Experience working with server-side frameworks including Express and Elysia.
• Experience working in a Typescript-first codebase
• Exposure to runtimes and build tooling including NPM, Vite, Rollup, Node and Bun.
• Experience of CI/CD workflows and cloud deployment technologies including GitHub Actions, Google Cloud, Argo and Kubernetes.
• Experience of working as part of an Agile product development team

What You'll be Responsible For::
• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable Skyral applications, often in situations where requirements emerge and evolve as projects progress.
• Produce reusable client layers that facilitate access to other Skyral services
• Provide frontend development setup config and tooling that speeds up the development of the customer solutions teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify practical, high-impact solutions, in evolving or uncertain problem areas.
• Supporting the product owner and the technical delivery manager with requirements capture, planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder collaboration
• Collaborating with other product development and project teams across the defence business
