Job Description
The Senior Fish Passage Engineer role is part of a multidisciplinary team that collaborates directly with natural resource scientists, planners, landscape architects, and civil and structural engineers. The successful candidate will lead engineering design tasks in the procurement of, planning, permitting, and design of fish passage and related habitat projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Experience in the early project identification, discussion with project proponents and development of proposals is desired.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify project leads and help the marketing team in project identification and procurement. Lead, develop and implement the plans and specifications for fish passage and related habitat projects. Responsible for design, construction, and maintenance support for hydraulics and hydrology.
Collaborate with the permitting team to satisfy agency requirements for in-water projects.
Lead all project management tasks such as developing budgets and scopes, client billings, field report reviews, contract reviews, and proposal development.
Direct and guide work of CAD staff in the development of bid and construction drawings.
Provide engineering support during construction, including review of submittals, response to RFIs, and review and development of contract modifications.
Interact with clients, develop scopes of work and fee proposals, and manage projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Masters preferred.
10+ years design experience procuring and managing civil design projects related to fish passage and habitat projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) required.
Project Engineering and Project Management experience required.
Experience with planning, organizing, and conducting hydraulic and hydrologic modeling with application to fish passage and habitat restoration.
Experience with State and Federal fish and wildlife permitting agency personnel and program managers, including local Tribes.
Able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks.
