Role Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Automotive Engineer with deep expertise in automotive protocols to significantly enhance our advanced diagnostic tools and systems. This role is pivotal for candidates who thrive on integrating complex software and hardware, leading firmware development, and working on cloud-connected embedded devices.
• Design and implement robust solutions involving core automotive protocols (e.g., CAN, UDS, OBD-II).
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of hardware, firmware, and software components.
• Contribute to low-level firmware development for embedded systems.
• Perform software debugging and troubleshooting for complex hardware and software issues.
• Implement support for new device features for our cloud-connected automotive diagnostic scan tool.
• Write clean, well-defined code, ensure quality, and maintain proper technical documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute actively to the team's technical growth.
Requirements:
Must-Have
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software and firmware development roles.
• Expertise in automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
• Proficiency with C programming.
• Deep functional knowledge and experience with essential automotive protocols (CAN, UDS, OBD-II).
• Expertise in real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with low-level communication protocols such as I2C, UART, and SPI.
• Strong debugging skills and experience working with cloud-connected devices.
Nice-to-Have
• Knowledge of additional automotive protocols such as J1939, K-LINE, and J2534.
• Prior experience with power sports vehicles, such as Polaris.
• Expertise in STM32 microcontroller programming.
• Experience with boot code, low-level OS code, device drivers, and IO devices.
• Understanding of ARM architecture, particularly M4 and A9, and experience with System-on-Chip (SoC) bring-up.
• Strong foundational knowledge of hardware and firmware interaction and development lifecycles.
