On 27 March 2026, Athora has completed its acquisition of Pension Insurance Corporation Group (PICG), including its subsidiary, PIC. Following the transaction, PIC continues to operate under its existing brand, with its strategy, operations and customer proposition remaining unchanged.
PIC is recruiting for a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join its Reporting & Financial Management team, which is part of the wider Finance department. The team is highly skilled and experienced with responsibility for all statutory, regulatory and management information reporting. In this role, you will contribute across all deliverables, supporting the statutory reporting process from planning through to publication and providing support for UAT, testing activities and Group integration project work.
This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract and will require the role holder to support both BAU and project work within the Finance workstream for the Athora integration project.
Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Senior Financial Reporting Accountant:
• Support production of all the external IFRS reporting produced by the Finance function including:
• The Annual Report and Accounts for the Group and its UK subsidiaries; and
• The half year published Investor Report for the Group.
• New Group reporting requirements to the Athora Group.
• The role holder will work closely with members of the Finance business teams to assist with BAU and project work throughout the phase of the project.
• Shape the way the PIC Group reporting to Athora and help assist on enhanced efficiencies.
• As a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant, you will have responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of templates and supporting overall external IFRS reporting for both PIC and PICG’s financial reporting.
• Ownership and delivery of testing and reporting tasks, including performing UAT related tasks, preparing change requests and answering queries.
• The role will support the testing and dry run of the Athora integration and work closely with Change Accounting team as well as external project teams.
• Prepare and support analytical review commentary for assigned deliverables.
• Provide support on ad‑hoc tasks and queries, contributing to team‑wide projects and initiatives as needed.
• Assist in the timely preparation and delivery of disclosures for the financial statements and accompanying notes.
Requirements:
Experience:
• Proven post qualification financial reporting experience
• Experience in entity and group reporting within financial services (preferred), ideally within insurance industry or similar within a Big 4 accounting environment
• Working knowledge of IFRS 17 and its implications for insurance reporting
Skills:
• Experience in entity and group reporting within financial services (preferred), ideally within insurance industry or similar within a Big 4 environment
• Ability to influence key senior stakeholders and to analyse complex problems and propose solutions
• Ability to work under pressure towards tight deadlines and to prioritise and distinguish what really matters amongst a large quantity of information and make judgement calls
• Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written reports and to take existing processes and improve/ simplify
• Strong communication and influencing skills and ability to drive change and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives
• Open and actively seeks to discuss issues and share information
Knowledge:
• Detailed knowledge of the insurance industry and the relevant reporting metrics such as IFRS, Solvency II
• Experience gained from other reporting roles
• Fundamental knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office package, especially Excel
• A good understanding of IFRS 17 and its application to insurance companies
• Experience of Oracle Fusion, Oracle FCCS and Oracle Narrative tool
• Experience of using the SmartView Excel add-in
