Team Overview
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst supports the organization’s strategic and financial objectives by providing accurate financial forecasting, detailed analysis, and data-driven reporting. This position will collaborate closely with leadership across departments to support budgeting, long-range planning, and performance analysis. The Finance team’s effectiveness directly contributes to excellence in ministry accountability, stewardship, informed decision-making, sound fiscal management, and the overall reputation of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis, supporting documentation, and interpretation of results.
• Partner with department leaders to develop operating budgets, monitor spending, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Support fundraising efforts by preparing financial schedules for funding proposals, and periodic reports for key institutional funders.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities that may impact financial performance and recommend appropriate actions.
• Provide continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial services and information, including automating processes and tools.
• Ensure financial data integrity and consistency across reporting systems.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis or similar field.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with data visualization and dashboard development using BI tools.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Power BI and Domo
• Experience using Sage Intacct and Limelight software
• Relevant professional certifications
