Opportunity:

Vault is seeking a commercially focused Senior Financial Analyst with exceptional financial modeling capabilities and a strong builder’s mindset. This role is central to Vault’s commercial and corporate finance function and will be responsible for translating complex commercial contracts, legal terms, and tax credit structures into integrated financial models and decision-ready insights.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on individual contributor who takes full ownership of Vault’s core development, valuation, and corporate roll-up models. This role supports investment decisions, Board and investor materials, and commercial negotiations, requiring a high degree of accountability, attention to detail, and initiative. The ideal candidate proactively identifies gaps, builds new tools and frameworks where none exist, and continuously improves the quality, efficiency, and reliability of Vault’s financial analysis.

Description of role:

Commercial Analysis & Financial Modeling

Build, maintain, and integrate detailed project-level financial models into standardized corporate and portfolio-level models, with rigorous quality control and documentation.

Act as the primary financial modeler for new commercial opportunities and transactions, particularly during active commercial negotiations where terms are evolving.

Translate commercial agreements, term sheets, offtake agreements, and other contracts into model-ready assumptions, accurately reflecting pricing mechanics, risk allocation, milestone triggers, and incentives.

Model tax credit and incentive structures (e.g., U.S. 45Q) and assess their impacts on project- and portfolio-level economics.

Perform scenario, sensitivity, and downside analysis to support commercial negotiations, investment decisions, and risk management.

Corporate Finance Support

Perform and update corporate and project-level valuations to support capital allocation, investment decisions, and external reporting.

Own and maintain Vault’s long-term corporate planning and forecasting model (corporate roll-up model), ensuring accurate integration of project-level and corporate assumptions.

Lead preparation of Board and Asset Management Committee (AMC) materials, contributing to regular updates across Operations, Projects, Commercial, Business Development, and Finance.

Respond to ad hoc investor relations and lender information requests with clear, defensible analysis.

Cross-Functional Integration & Process Building

Partner closely with Business Development, Commercial, Legal, and Project teams to ensure financial models accurately reflect contractual, technical, and operational realities.

Integrate individual project financial models, schedules, and assumptions into consolidated forecasts and management reporting.

Design, build, and continuously improve standardized modeling templates, assumptions, controls, and governance processes to improve transparency, repeatability, and auditability.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline; MBA/CFA considered an asset.

3–6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or corporate development, preferably within energy, infrastructure, renewables, or carbon management.

Demonstrated ability to build, audit, and own complex financial models from first principles, with exceptional attention to detail and error-checking discipline.

Strong capability to interpret commercial contracts and legal terms and translate them into accurate financial and risk models.

Solid grasp of valuation methodologies (DCF, scenario-based valuation, sensitivity and downside analysis).

Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI or similar tools is an asset.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain assumptions, risks, and outcomes to senior management and external stakeholders.

Eligibility to work in Canada or the United States.

Profile & Key Competencies

Builder mindset with a growth orientation – comfortable creating new models, processes, and tools rather than only maintaining existing ones.
