Sr. Field Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the construction work performed by the company's own workforce. This role involves planning, coordinating, and ensuring the quality and safety of self-performed tasks while maintaining budgetary and schedule constraints. The Field Operations Manager will also provide overall administrative and technical management at the construction project site. This role will manage all on-site self-perform construction labor, materials and activities. Other responsibilities will include the administration of the jobsite safety program, quality management, and overall schedule coordination and supervision.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all aspects of self-perform field operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to project specifications
Direct self-perform construction activities, ensuring efficient resource utilization and adherence to project specifications
Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents and stakeholders to ensure clear communication
Proactively identify potential issues and implement solutions to minimize delays and disruptions
Optimize resource use to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Implement and enforce quality assurance measures, conducting inspections and assessments to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle
Oversee the selection, maintenance, and operation of tools and equipment necessary for field operations. Ensure all equipment is in compliance with safety regulations and operational standards
Monitor the Labor Production Report and control costs associated with self-performed work
Prepare, analyze and present project status updates, including progress reports and budget forecasts, to senior management. Address budgetary issues, should they arise
Supervise and manage self-performance field staff, including site supervisors and skilled trades
Mentor and train field staff, including site supervisors and skilled trades, fostering a collaborative and safety-oriented culture
Coordinate of all materials to be used by self-perform teams.
Required Experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the commercial construction industry as a Self Perform Manager, Superintendent or Construction Supervisor, focused on Self-Perform trade/craft work
Thorough knowledge of Corporate/Industry Safety standards. Be a self-starter with ability to set goals and tasks with strong leadership skills
Hands-on experience in trades, having previously worked in roles such as [e.g., mason, fabricator, carpenter, etc.]
Ability to read drawings and shop drawings proficiently
Working knowledge of Construction scheduling
Working knowledge of cost report and labor production report
Thorough knowledge of quality programs
Ability to work with and manage multiple people in a fast-paced environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required
Familiarity with software specifically designed for the construction industry, such as Pro Core, HH2, for document management and takeoffs
Ability to develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets for self-performed tasks
Proficient in understanding building plans and specs
OSHA 10 Certification required; OSHA 30 Certification preferred
Knowledge of Safety standards and enforcement in a construction environment
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Highly developed sense of professional ethics
