Senior Executive, Retail Marketing

Sports Direct Malaysia is currently looking for Senior Executive, Retail Marketing to join our growing team. 

Sports Direct Malaysia currently operates a total of 41 retail stores domestically and manages a proprietary SportsDirect.com e-commerce site for domestic and regional fulfillment. Sports Direct Malaysia offers over 70 of the leading authentic global sports brands, offering the widest variety of choice and value. The company employs over 1000 staff with a view to expanding rapidly across Asia in the coming years.

We have developed a new generation of stores as part of our multi channel elevation strategy, to enhance the customer experience at every step of the journey. Our focus is on presenting an unrivalled range of quality products at excellent value in a modern spacious environment. The stores are uniquely zoned by key sports categories which include; SD Football, SD Running, SD Training (fitness, cross training, gym equipment, weights, boxing, yoga), SD Rackets (badminton, tennis, squash), SD Swimming (pool, beach, water sports), SD Sports (basketball, rugby, extreme games, cycling, skates & indoor games), SD Lifestyle (Men, Women & Kids) & SD Outdoor (Hiking, trekking, camping & fishing).

As a Senior Executive, Retail Marketing, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the planning, development, and execution of strategic retail marketing plans aligned with business objectives.
• Execute, coordinate, and monitor day-to-day operations of retail marketing campaigns, events, promotions, and advertising activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with landlords and shopping mall marketing teams to maximise marketing opportunities.
• Plan and execute partnership and collaboration opportunities with malls, brands, and external partners.
• Liaise closely with internal teams (Retail Operations, VM, Creative, Digital) and external vendors to ensure timely and effective campaign execution.
• Plan, manage, and optimise retail marketing communication channels, including sourcing strategic advertising opportunities such as Digital OOH, viral platforms, In-Store Displays, and printed materials.
• Monitor, analyse, and evaluate the effectiveness of retail marketing activities and advertising performance.
• Conduct regular retail store visits and market surveys to stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and in-store execution standards.
• Prepare, compile, and manage retail marketing reports, post-campaign evaluations, and documentation.
• Support budget tracking and cost management for retail marketing initiatives when required.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Retail Marketing Manager.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Mass Communication, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in marketing, preferably within the Retail (preferably in Sports or Fashion) or FMCG industry.
• Proven experience working closely with shopping malls, landlords, and organising retail events and campaigns.
• Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, hands-on, and results-driven with a strong “can-do” attitude.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Willing to travel and work extended hours when required, especially during campaign and event periods.
