Location: Base Metal Refineries (BMR), Rustenburg
The Senior Engineering Manager Operations is responsible for maintaining and enhancing engineering standards and procedures within Base Metal Refineries to minimise operational and business risks while safeguarding the company’s capital assets. Additionally, this role provides support for major capital projects in Operations, ensuring their effective execution within a typical timeframe of two to five years.  
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Leads safety, sustainable development, and Valterra Platinum values.
• Supports strategic equipment upgrades and operational strategy.
• Oversees engineering maintenance, risk, and infrastructure to ensure operational goals.
• Manages resources to meet production targets and project needs.
• Ensures legal, environmental, health, safety, and risk compliance.
• Builds strong stakeholder relationships.
• Drives continuous improvement and asset optimisation in engineering processes.
• National Diploma in Engineering or
• Degree in Engineering
• Government Certificate of Competency Factories under Department of Labour
Experience
Ten years of engineering experience, including seven years in operational plant settings across beneficiation, smelting and refining in the mining industry.
Technical knowledge and skills
• Proven ability in large Capex project management
• Proven ability in minimising Operational and Business Risk
• Proven ability in protecting and managing capital assets
• Experience in SAP: Planned Maintenance
• Strategic Vision 2-5 years
