Role Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager for the Perception engineering team at Labelbox, you will lead a team that builds easy-to-use and efficient tools that support the development of cutting-edge AI systems like those for generative AI and computer vision.

In this role, you will manage the team’s daily operations, including sprint planning, daily standups, and one-on-one meetings, ensuring smooth execution and continuous progress. You will also contribute technical expertise at the intersection of AI and full-stack development, guiding the team in building robust and efficient systems.

Collaboration is key—you will work closely with other engineering teams to align on architecture, share best practices, and drive cross-functional initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of the AI/ML ecosystem.

• Improve developer productivity by ensuring infrastructure, tools, and processes support efficient development while maintaining security, reliability, and scalability.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).

• Proven technical leadership with 4+ years of experience in full-stack development and 2+ years managing highly technical engineering teams.

• Strong software design and architecture skills, with experience in API development, schema design, etc.

• Expertise in programming languages such as TypeScript and Python, with a disciplined approach to software development focused on testing and quality.

• Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks like React. Early career experience is fine.

• Strong understanding of the AI/ML ecosystem, including LLM evaluation, prompt/context engineering. Keen interest in keeping up with latest trends in the domain.

• Experience with developing AI/ML tooling such as UI for ML pipelines, feature stores, etc.. Experience with leveraging large language models (e.g., GPT-4, Gemini) for product development, and working with AI service APIs (e.g., text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, transcription).

• Project management expertise, including experience with agile methodologies and tools like Jira, demonstrating ownership of end-to-end project delivery.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across engineering, product, and design teams.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a willingness to dive deep to drive results.

Labelbox strives to ensure pay parity across the organization and discuss compensation transparently. The expected annual base salary range for United States-based candidates is below. This range is not inclusive of any potential equity packages or additional benefits. Exact compensation varies based on a variety of factors, including skills and competencies, experience, and geographical location.
