Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Core Platform team at FourKites. This is a critical leadership position where you will own the foundational services that power our entire supply chain visibility platform. You will lead a team of 10+ engineers building and scaling the core capabilities that all our products depend on: master data management, workflow orchestration, notification services, export infrastructure, and user & tenant management.

What You'll Do

Build & Scale Core Platform Services

• Maintain, scale, and advance critical platform services that power all FourKites products

• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of core infrastructure

• Drive architectural evolution to support business growth and new product requirements

• Optimize existing services while building new capabilities for emerging needs

• Own SLAs and operational excellence for all core platform services

Lead & Grow Your Team

• Manage, mentor, and scale a team of 10+ talented engineers

• Drive hiring, onboarding, and talent development initiatives

• Conduct performance reviews and career development planning

• Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

• Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management

Drive Technical Excellence

• Design and implement microservices architecture at scale

• Optimize database performance across SQL, NoSQL, and graph databases

• Build low-latency APIs with sub-second response times

• Architect multi-cloud solutions ensuring 99.99% availability

• Champion engineering best practices and code quality standards

• Make critical technical decisions balancing innovation with stability

Execute & Deliver

• Lead quarterly planning and roadmap development for core platform initiatives

• Drive complex cross-functional projects from conception to production

• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple workstreams

• Collaborate with product managers to align technical solutions with business goals

• Ensure on-time delivery while maintaining quality and technical standards

Collaborate & Influence

• Partner with engineering and product leaders across the organization to drive platform adoption

• Work closely with frontend and backend platform teams for seamless integration

• Build consensus on technical decisions across diverse stakeholder groups

• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Increase adoption of core services through excellent documentation and developer experience

What You'll Bring

Required Experience

• 15+ years of software engineering experience in fast-paced, high-growth organizations

• 5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 10+ engineers

• Proven track record of building and scaling platform services in enterprise B2B environments

Technical Expertise

• Deep hands-on experience with:

• Microservices architecture and distributed systems

• Database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, graph databases) and optimization

• Building high-performance, low-latency APIs at scale

• Multi-cloud deployments (AWS, Azure)

• Identity and access management systems

• Workflow orchestration and automation platforms

Leadership Skills

• Strong project planning and execution capabilities

• Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices

• Exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration

• Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent

• Track record of driving technical initiatives that deliver business value

Mindset & Approach

• AI-native mindset - ability to identify where AI/ML can create genuine value

• Customer-first approach to platform development

• Balance between technical perfectionism and pragmatic delivery

• Passion for building reliable, scalable infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with both frontend and backend platform teams

• Experience with data engineering (ETL pipelines, streaming architectures)

• Background in machine learning or AI applications

• Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, or enterprise software domains

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring at scale

• Track record of successful platform migrations or modernization projects
