Senior Engineer - Salesforce

The role / impact

As a Senior Salesforce Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of custom applications and interfaces that drive internal and external customer engagement. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Salesforce platform, ensuring sustainable engineering practices while building software that simplifies complex business processes.

Your work will directly influence Xero’s growth by ensuring our marketing operations are seamless and scalable. By owning large-scale programmes of work and investigating deep into the codebase, you will turn new requirements into robust technical solutions that help us better support our customers.

The team / how they connect

You will join the Pegasus squad, a dedicated group within the wider Salesforce team that focuses on supporting performance marketing and lead routing. The team operates in a highly collaborative environment, working in tandem with stakeholders to ensure business priorities are aligned and value is delivered consistently.

The team is currently working on

• Integrating leads from external systems into Salesforce using a core stack that includes Data Cloud, Snowflake, and Clay.

• Refactoring legacy code and adopting new requirements to ensure the platform remains high-performing as we scale.

• Executing the FY27 strategy to improve marketing operation efficiency and performance.

• Establishing technical solution designs and making major code design decisions to maintain engineering excellence.

Where and how you can work

This role is open to candidates based across Australia, with the flexibility to work remotely or from our offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, or Sydney. We support a hybrid working model that balances focused remote work with opportunities to connect in person.

Here are some of the things we are looking for

• You bring a proven ability to develop custom applications on the Salesforce platform, including proficiency with Apex, Flows, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.

• Your background includes experience with Salesforce Experience Cloud and modern JavaScript frameworks to build high-quality user interfaces.

• You possess a proactive mindset, with the ability to unblock yourself and investigate deep into complex technical problems.

• You have a track record of implementing automated testing and unit tests to ensure software quality and reliability.

• You demonstrate strong communication skills through your history of collaborating with marketing stakeholders and support teams.

• Your toolkit includes experience with CI/CD processes, source control, and Salesforce point-and-click administration.
