Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java) Location: Hybrid / Madrid Contract type: Long-term project Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java and modern backend architectures to join a key project within the aeronautical sector. The initiative focuses on improving operational efficiency and energy usage optimization across aircraft systems by leveraging data analysis, automation, and intelligent alerting. The team is currently evolving a validated commercial solution that gathers and interprets technical and operational data from aircraft systems, aiming to detect inefficiencies and provide actionable insights to enhance performance and sustainability. You will play a central role in designing and implementing robust backend services to support these analytics and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend components and microservices using Java (Spring Boot). Integrate and process operational data from multiple aviation systems and data sources. Develop APIs and backend logic to support advanced analytics and real-time alerting. Ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability of backend systems.

Collaborate closely with data engineers, frontend developers, and business analysts to deliver end-to-end solutions. Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmap discussions. Requirements Technical Skills: 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Deep knowledge of Java, preferably with Spring Boot / Spring Cloud frameworks.

Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems. Solid understanding of database design (SQL and NoSQL). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization tools (Docker). Experience in CI/CD, testing frameworks, and version control (Git).

Background in data-intensive or industrial monitoring systems is a strong plus. Experience working with React is a plus. Soft Skills: Analytical mindset and problem-solving orientation. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional technical teams.
