JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced L3 Backup & Recovery Specialist with deep expertise in Commvault also supporting enterprise backup operations in AWS environments. The ideal candidate will also possess working knowledge of NetBackup as a secondary skillset. This role is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, solution design, and operational excellence in backup and recovery services for mission-critical workloads. In addition, has accountability for ensuring data integrity, and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance customer experience.
Works with Commvault in a large mixed environment of both windows and Linux servers.

• Lead and manage complex backup and recovery operations using Commvault in AWS cloud environments.

• Provide L3-level support, including root cause analysis, performance optimization, and resolution of escalated incidents.

• Integrate and optimize Commvault solutions with AWS native services (e.g., S3, EC2, RDS, Glacier).

• Support NetBackup environments as a secondary skillset, including configuration, monitoring, and incident resolution.

• Ability to build and design backup infrastructure.
Ability to manage multiple tape libraries of backup infrastructure.
Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to trouble shoot backup issues, tape issues, and storage issues.
Needs to be proficient in backup schedules and policies.
Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and compliance.

• Participate in audits, DR drills, and capacity planning activities.

• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance as needed.
Must thoroughly understand Commvault through command line and GUI.
Must understand Linux and Windows commands and understand how to troubleshoot backup issues on both windows servers, and Linux servers.
Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes.
Must have experience with automating backup processes, as well as using Commvault Workflows.

Experience in managing large database backups and recovery
Experience in Oracle and MSSQL server databases

Education
Bachelor's degree (b. s.) from four-year College or University; 8 plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience .

Related Work Experience
Experience in Commvault – 5 plus years
Experience in netbackup – L2 level experience
Experience in backup and recovery operations – 8 plus years
