We have assisted more than 150 institutions with the management of recruitment channels, developing and managing academic partnerships, digital services, social media, and relationship building with international alumni.
As our team continues to grow, we are looking for a dedicated, organized and detail-oriented person to join our management team in China, with a primary focus on Program Officer engagement management, developing the local education ecosystem and supporting our operations in China.
The Role
The Senior Engagement Manager will play a key role in supporting the effective delivery and development of Grok’s operations in China. The position combines hands-on engagement management of Program Officers, contribution to ecosystem development, and active participation in staff development and workplace culture. Working closely with the Associate Director, China and wider leadership, the role provides structured support across hiring, onboarding and performance processes, strengthens local stakeholder engagement, and contributes informed market insight to ensure Grok’s services remain responsive to the evolving international education landscape in China.
Engagement Management
Provide professional and pastoral supervision to our Program Officers.
Inform processes to ensure that all staff are being supported consistently.
Support with the hiring and onboarding of new Program Office staff to ensure a strong common understanding between parties.
Support the annual staff performance appraisal process.
Ecosystem Development
Support the Associate Director, China with the development of Grok’s ecosystem in China.
Support and deliver engagement with key stakeholders in China to the benefit of our Program Officers and clients.
Staff Development and Workplace Culture
Foster a strong, positive work culture for a mixture of office and remote-based staff.
Lead, support and participate in training and professional development.
Organize and attend local entity staff social activities.
Market Expertise in International Education
Contribute informed insight on trends, policy developments, and competitive dynamics within the Chinese international education market.
Support the development of market-facing strategies by providing local intelligence and analysis to clients and internal teams.
Advise colleagues and clients on opportunities and operational considerations within the region, drawing on in-market experience.
Represent Grok at selected industry events, webinars, and marketing initiatives related to China, in coordination with senior leadership.

Person specification:
A Bachelor’s degree. A Masters is desirable. A degree from a reputable university is an advantage.
5+ years of experience working in international higher education with a strong understanding of international education practices in China.
Student recruitment and marketing expertise from within the HE sector, especially the support of overseas HEI to increase enrolment outcomes and brand awareness in China.
Strong understanding or experience of the student recruitment landscape across Asia, specifically in China (including agent management, TNE, academic partnerships and school engagement).
Deep knowledge of the higher education system of our client destination countries (especially US, UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland or New Zealand).
Excellent English communication skills, Chinese language skills are essential.
Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
