BAE Systems OneArc Czechia k.s., TechOps department are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior End-User Computing (EUC) Engineer to play a critical role in shaping and maintaining our end-user technology landscape. You will be responsible for the strategy, implementation, and support of our desktop and laptop hardware, as well as the Microsoft Windows operating system environment. Key Areas of Responsibilities:
End-User Hardware Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of our desktop and laptop hardware, including procurement, imaging, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and eventual retirement. Establish standards and best practices for hardware selection and management.
Microsoft Windows Operating System Management: Architect, implement, and maintain our standard Windows operating system image, ensuring security, stability, and optimal performance. Manage patching, updates, and configuration baselines.
Endpoint Security Management: Implement and manage endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and data loss prevention (DLP) tools, ensuring the security of our end-user devices.
Software Deployment and Management: Develop and implement strategies for the efficient deployment and management of applications across our end-user devices using tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) or other software distribution platforms.
User Profile Management: Design and implement robust user profile management solutions to ensure consistent user experiences across different devices and sessions.
Troubleshooting and Incident Resolution (Level 3): Serve as a senior point of escalation for complex end-user computing issues related to hardware and the Windows operating system, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution.
Documentation and Standardisation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for EUC processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides. Drive standardisation across our end-user environment.
Collaboration and Vendor Management: Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., Networking, Security) and manage relationships with hardware and software vendors.
Skills:
Technical Expertise (Windows & Hardware):
Deep Expertise in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Client): Comprehensive knowledge of current Windows desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11), including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, security settings, and performance optimisation.
Hardware Lifecycle Management Proficiency: Proven ability to manage the entire lifecycle of desktop and laptop hardware, including:
Hardware Evaluation and Selection: Understanding of different hardware specifications, vendor relationships, and the ability to recommend appropriate hardware based on user needs and budget.
Imaging and Deployment: Expertise in creating and deploying standardised Windows images using tools like Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Windows Autopilot, or similar.
Hardware Troubleshooting and Repair: Advanced skills in diagnosing and resolving hardware-related issues on desktops and laptops.
Asset Management: Experience with tracking and managing hardware assets throughout their lifecycle.
Endpoint Security Management: Deep understanding and practical experience with implementing and managing endpoint security solutions, including:
Antivirus and Anti-Malware: Configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of antivirus and anti-malware software.
Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR): Understanding of EDR principles and experience with relevant tools.
Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Knowledge of DLP concepts and experience with implementation and management.
Patch Management: Expertise in managing and deploying Windows and third-party software updates using tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/SCCM) or WSUS.
Software Deployment and Management: Proficiency in using software deployment and management tools, primarily Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) and/or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), for application packaging, distribution, and updates.
User Profile Management: Strong understanding and experience implementing and troubleshooting user profile management solutions, including roaming profiles, folder redirection, and potentially more modern solutions.
Scripting and Automation (Primarily PowerShell): Excellent PowerShell scripting skills for automating repetitive tasks, managing Windows configurations, deploying software, and gathering system information.
Understanding of Network Fundamentals: Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) as they relate to end-user devices and connectivity.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
Advanced Troubleshooting Abilities: Exceptional skills in diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and Windows operating system issues, often under pressure.
Root Cause Analysis: Ability to identify the underlying causes of recurring problems and implement effective long-term solutions.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Mindset: A structured approach to identifying, analysing, and resolving technical challenges.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent Communication (Written and Verbal): Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with other IT teams, end-users, and vendors.
Customer-Focused Approach: A commitment to providing excellent support and ensuring a positive end-user experience.
Documentation Skills: Ability to create clear and comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
Education and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
Relevant Microsoft Certifications (Highly Valued):
Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
Other relevant certifications
Vocational Training or Equivalent Experience
Professional Experience:
Significant Experience in End-User Computing Roles (5+ years)
Deep Hands-on Experience with Microsoft Windows Client Operating Systems
Proven Experience with Hardware Lifecycle Management
Strong Experience with Endpoint Security Solutions
Extensive Experience with Software Deployment and Management Tools, including Intune
Solid Scripting and Automation Skills (Primarily PowerShell)
Demonstrated Experience in Advanced Troubleshooting
Experience with User Profile Management
Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) Systems
