What We’re Looking For...

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Sydney‑based engineering team. This role is ideal for a technically strong electrical engineer who enjoys working at a system level, developing robust electrical specifications, and collaborating closely with external design partners and contract manufacturers.

You will contribute to the electrical design and development of active implantable medical devices, providing technical input across the product lifecycle — from requirements definition through design reviews, verification, and manufacturing support.

This role plays a critical part in technical reviews, partner engagement, and ensuring designs meet Saluda’s performance, quality, and regulatory expectations.

This is a 12 month, Fixed Term contract position.

Your role will include:

Develop and maintain electrical system requirements, specifications, and interface documentation for medical device products

Collaborate with external design partners and contract manufacturers to support detailed electrical design activities

Participate in and contribute to technical and design reviews, providing clear, constructive engineering feedback

Support system‑level electrical architecture decisions across mixed‑signal, low‑power, and embedded electronics

Work closely with cross‑functional teams including systems engineering, firmware, mechanical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing

Produce and develop documentation in line with Saluda’s QMS, including planning & implementing changes following the change control procedure, and engaging collaborators and reviewers to address feedback

Provide regular updates to Project Managers on progress and risks

Assist with verification and validation activities, including test planning, execution support, and results review

Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during development, transfer to manufacturing, and post‑market activities

Ensure designs and documentation comply with medical device standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. IEC 60601, ISO 13485)

About you:

Degree qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)

5+ years’ experience in electrical or electronic design, ideally within medical devices or regulated industries

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teams

Experience developing engineering specifications and requirements

Exposure to working with external suppliers, design houses, or contract manufacturers

Understanding of system‑level considerations including power management, signal integrity, EMC, and safety

Familiarity with design controls, verification processes, and regulated development environments

Detail‑oriented, methodical, and comfortable balancing hands‑on technical work with coordination and review

Self-motivated with excellent time management skills

It’s not essential, but nice if you have:

Experience with implantable or active medical devices

Knowledge of low‑power or battery‑powered electronics

Experience supporting manufacturing transfer and sustaining engineering activities

Prior involvement in regulatory submissions or audits

PCB Design with Altium or similar software

Knowledge of analogue electronics, including circuit analysis and SPICE‑based simulation

Proficiency using electrical modelling and simulation tools such as LTspice

Strong programming fundamentals, including Embedded development (e.g. C) and higher‑level or scripting languages (e.g. Python, C#)

Experience with Bluetooth or other RF system design, including regulatory and compliance testing

Experience with Test Method Validation (TMV) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

At Saluda, we challenge boundaries. We innovate and think beyond the conventional. We disrupt.
