Senior Editor Developer, AI Authoring

The opportunity

We are looking for an Editor Software Developer to join the Unity AI Authoring team, where our mission is to integrate AI directly into the Unity Editor. You’ll design and build the editor features, APIs, and workflows that enable both creators and AI agents to collaborate, transforming the way games are designed, prototyped, and launched.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll own features end-to-end, from design to integration, and act as the expert for how AI is represented in the Editor. You’ll work closely with software and machine learning engineers, as well as product designers and product managers to bring advanced AI capabilities into Unity’s creative toolset.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and extending editor features, APIs, and workflows that integrate AI into the Unity Editor.

• Building tools and systems that allow AI agents to interact with and leverage Unity’s authoring capabilities.

• Creating polished and intuitive UI Toolkit interfaces for AI-driven workflows.

• Developing and maintaining public APIs that enable creators and AI systems to collaborate seamlessly.

• Improving the architecture of existing systems and designing scalable solutions for new AI integrations.

• Acting as the feature owner for parts of the Editor, ensuring adoption and usability across Unity’s ecosystem.

• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers, backend engineers, and product managers.

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in C# and deep familiarity with Unity APIs.

• Experience extending the Unity Editor or building custom tools for game dev teams.

• Hands-on experience with UI Toolkit and building user-friendly tools in the Unity Editor.

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Nexus).

• Passion for creating usable, polished, and enjoyable developer experiences.

• Interest in AI technologies and a desire to explore how AI can transform game creation.

You might also have

• Practical game development experience (mobile, desktop, or console).

• Knowledge of full-stack development, with Python experience as a plus.

• Familiarity with live services such as Unity Gaming Services, PlayFab, Firebase, or similar.

• Experience creating and publishing Unity plugins or tools (e.g., through the Asset Store).
