Senior DevOps Engineer - 6 month FTC

Reports to Director of Cloud

The Aztec Group is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team on a six-month contract. This role will focus on operationalising, optimising, supporting, and enhancing DevOps solutions and frameworks that underpin our cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines. The successful candidate will work to embed best practices and tools—developed both internally and by third-party providers—into production environments. The role will also support and enhance the framework of the cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines to enable rapid, reliable software delivery. Additionally, the role includes knowledge transfer and capability building to aid development of junior staff.

Key responsibilities:

Operationalisation & Deployment

• Integrate and deploy DevOps solutions and frameworks into production environments with robust monitoring and observability

• Establish CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application updates, ensuring reproducibility and scalability

Optimization & Enhancement

• Improve performance, reliability, and efficiency of existing DevOps and cloud infrastructure solutions

• Implement continuous evaluation frameworks to monitor system health and maintain operational excellence

Infrastructure & Tooling

• Design and implement infrastructure for automation, versioning, and lifecycle management

• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements

• Proactively identify and resolve performance, availability, and security issues

• Establish and maintain robust monitoring and alerting for all production systems, leveraging tools such as Zoho Site24x7

Knowledge Transition & Capability Building

• Document processes, frameworks, and best practices for internal teams

• Mentor internal staff and assist in defining the roadmap for a permanent AI/ML engineering capability

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with development, QA, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and foster a culture of continuous improvement

• Facilitate team ceremonies and supporting Agile best practices

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

Technical Expertise

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)

• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.)

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, etc.)

Monitoring & Observability

• Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms (Zoho Site24x7 highly desirable)

• Familiarity with incident management and root cause analysis

Security & Access Management

• Awareness and knowledge of Privileged Identity Management (PIM) roles

• Strong understanding of least privilege security principles and experience implementing them in line with industry best practices

Domain Knowledge

• Financial services or alternative asset management experience is highly desirable

Desirable Skills

• Scrum Master certification or demonstrable experience facilitating Agile ceremonies

• Knowledge and awareness of code scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube)

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Ability to work independently and deliver results within tight timelines
