Senior Developer / Architect – AI Transformation, Tieto Banktech (m/f/d)

The Mission

At Tieto BankTech, we are expanding our AI Transformation team to bring practical, AI-driven ways of working into engineering teams and products. Our work is grounded in real systems, real constraints, and the long-term modernization of core banking technology.

 

The Team

You will join a small, focused core team that combines deep technical expertise with hands-on engineering experience. The team includes PhDs with backgrounds from Google, YouTube, and Microsoft, alongside experienced engineers with strong expertise in machine learning and software development.

 

The Challenge

Our work sits at the intersection of modern AI and business-critical legacy systems — from mainframes and GPUs to mobile applications. This role is not just about writing code. It is about improving how software is built, maintained, and modernized, while helping other teams move faster and work more effectively.

Depending on the day, you may contribute as a developer, architect, DevOps engineer, or product-minded technical advisor. You are not expected to be an expert in every area, but you should be comfortable working across disciplines, testing ideas, and finding practical ways forward.

 

What You’ll Do

Identify where AI can create real value in products and engineering practices

Shape patterns, architectures, and best practices for AI-enabled solutions

Use AI-assisted workflows to understand, analyze, and modernize legacy technology

Help teams evaluate new tools and adopt AI-supported workflows across development, testing, and operations

 

Who You Are

• You have a strong background in software development and complex systems architecture
• You have practical experience with AI, either from professional work or serious hands-on projects
• You have a strong interest in GenAI, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, and local models
• You understand technical trade-offs and algorithmic complexity
• You care about security, testing, and operational stability in a banking environment
• You communicate clearly and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
