Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our high-impact Data team. In this role you'll be responsible for elevating Relay's data capabilities — building predictive models, supporting experimentation across the organization, and helping the business make smarter, faster decisions. You will be a key strategic partner sitting at the intersection of data engineering and business intelligence, translating complex business questions into rigorous, actionable insights that move the needle across GTM, Sales, Finance, and Product.

Please note that we are a hybrid environment and choose to collaborate in the office three days a week (Tuesday–Thursday)

What You'll Be Doing

• Own predictive modelling work across critical business domains — including customer lifetime value (LTV), churn, retention, and early-signal customer quality assessment

• Support the rollout of Relay's experiment infrastructure to teams across the org, establishing rigorous A/B testing standards and helping the org make confident, data-driven decisions

• Partner closely with GTM, Sales, Finance, and Product to translate ambiguous business questions into well-framed analytical problems with measurable outcomes

• Define and improve core metric definitions so the business is working from a consistent, trustworthy foundation

• Deliver stakeholder-facing insights and presentations that tell a compelling story through data — not just surface numbers, but explain what they mean and what to do next

• Contribute to roadmap planning and influence prioritization decisions across the data team and cross-functional partners

• Mentor junior data scientists and raise the bar for business-aligned, high-impact data science across the team

Who You Are

• You have hands-on experience building and deploying predictive models (e.g., LTV, churn, lead scoring) and can walk through your methodology and the business impact it drove

• You're deeply comfortable with SQL and Python, and can use them appropriately to run statistical analyses and solve complex problems

• You bring strong business instincts — you understand why a metric matters, not just how to compute it, and you're energized by solving real stakeholder problems

• You have experience with A/B testing and experimentation, can design experiments from first principles, and can communicate results in a way that's digestible to non-technical audiences

• You thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and have a track record of ramping quickly into new domains and delivering value within weeks, not months

• You're a clear, confident communicator who can bridge the gap between technical work and business decisions — written, verbal, and visual

• Familiarity with Snowflake and dbt is a strong plus; comfort working within a modern analytics stack is expected

The Interview Process

• Stage 1: A 45-minute Google Meet video call with a member of the People Team

• Stage 2: A 60-minute Google Meet video call with the Hiring Manager

• Stage 3: A 45-minute in-person interview with a member of our Leadership team

• Stage 4: A take-home case study, followed by a 60-minute Google Meet video call with members of our Data team.

Our Compensation Approach

We believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.

The annual salary range for this role is $144,000 - $176,000

For candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $160,000. Offers below this point reflect candidates we believe can grow into the full scope of the role with support and development. Offers above this point reflect impact that meaningfully exceeds the role’s defined expectations or an expanded scope from day one.
