Senior Data Engineer

Your Role in Our Story:

As a Senior Data Engineer at ACT, you will have a key role in managing and modernizing the Data Platform. The Data Platform is completely built on top of Microsoft Azure SSaS Services and follows the Microsoft Reference Architecture for small and midsize businesses. In addition to daily tasks like Data Analysis, Data Integration, Data Modelling and Report Design, as part of the BI team you will also be responsible for activities like gathering the requirements from the business, testing changes, managing the current CI/CD pipelines and monitoring the usage of the platform.

On a tactical and strategical level your input would be valuable regarding the changes that will happen to the platform including but not limited to the addition or removal of Azure Services, cost optimization, security and compliance improvements and task automation. In addition, transitioning to Microsoft Fabric is in the roadmap together with replacing a few components of the Platform to enable additional technical capabilities like unit testing and increase the operational efficiency.

Operational activities like business support and release management are shared across the team members and thus they will also be your responsibility from time to time. In addition, we looking to create better and automated documentation of our Data Platform using Gen AI to make this work more efficient thus we do appreciate a lot the creativity of the candidates.

You will be actively participating in all scrum activities in BI and help the team to further improve the way of working. You will work with most of the departments in the company and thus build a high-level view of the business. Prior knowledge in the business areas including Sales, Finance, Operations, Risk is highly appreciated.

In essence, your role involves:

• Managing and further enriching the Data Platform content and architecture

• Integrating new source systems and transforming data using Azure Data Factory.

• Designing, Implementing and Documenting new Data Models

• Creating and Optimizing Data Pipelines in ADF, Function Apps and Logic Apps

• Migrate Data between various Source Systems and use best practices on data migration and reconciliation

• Modernizing the Data Platform by implementing modern a Data Platform using Fabric or Databricks

• Developing and managing Semantic Models for Power BI reporting

• Communicating well with business users and helping them turn their business requirements into desired output.

• Demonstrating Data and Analytics solutions to the business counterparts.

Your Expertise:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

• IT & Business, Business Information Technology degree, or equivalent.

• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure or other Cloud Platforms.

• Experience with one or more of the following Data Platforms including Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, DataBricks, Snowflake.

• Proficient knowledge of SQL, knowledge of Python is highly appreciated.

• Understanding of different Data Analytics Architectures including Data Warehouse and Data Lakehouse

• Strong understanding of different modelling techniques including relational, dimensional, graph data modelling.

• Able to write, execute, interpret and optimize SQL queries or Python scripts.

• Experience with Power BI / Data visualization tools is an advantage.

• Experience with Git and building CI/CD Pipelines is an advantage.

• Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Synapse Analytics, PowerApps and Azure Automation is an advantage.

• Knowledge of data streaming and real-time analytics solutions is an advantage.
