About the role
Insite Energy is looking for a Senior Credit Controller to lead our approach to managing and reducing resident arrears across heat network consumption debt.
This is a role where financial stewardship meets empathy. You’ll combine strategic oversight with hands‑on engagement, ensuring residents receive fair, supportive, and effective debt management while safeguarding our clients’ interests.
What you’ll do
Lead and improve resident debt‑recovery processes.
Manage the full arrears lifecycle, including complex and high‑risk cases.
Work closely with billing teams to ensure accuracy and support recovery.
Create fair, affordable repayment plans and identify vulnerable residents early.
Produce performance reports and analyse arrears trends to shape strategy.
Build positive relationships with residents and set up payment plans directly.
Collaborate with clients, Ofgem, and support agencies.
Ensure compliance with legislation and oversee legal documentation when needed.
Lead and develop a small future team, setting KPIs and coaching on best practice.
Location and working hours
Full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
Office location: Stuart House, Peterborough (PE1 5DD) with flexibility to work from home as agreed with line manager.
What you’ll bring
Experience in B2C resident debt management and sensitive conversations.
Knowledge of housing law and pre‑action protocols.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Excel and excellent written communication.
Experience supervising or leading a team.
Desirable
Social housing experience, knowledge of heat networks/Ofgem, safeguarding awareness, and credit management qualifications.
